CARE OF VULNERABLE PATIENTS

Purpose
To provide guideline instructions in order to ensure a safe environment for
vulnerable patients (children below 12 yrs physically and disabled personnel,
immune-compromised patients ( post renal transplant, dialysis, patients on
chemotherapy) Obstetrics and High risk pregnancy, patients who have language
barriers. Patients above the age of 65 yrs and all Intensive care unit patients.

YELLOW ID Band is applied for all Vulnerable patients

Wheelchair with straps (to restrain patients from falling ) accessibility is possible
within the hospital.

Handrails / Grab bars are provided in toilets, in & around the hospital for the
senior citizens to move around

For the categorized vulnerable patients where ever possible arrangement is made
for bed side accommodation of relatives/surrogate.

Side rails are made available for all patients under this category wherever
necessary

Call bells placed at reachable distance

Signage boards with contrasting colours; large fonts in English as well as the
regional language are placed to help senior citizens.
