Dear Dr. Duta:
Thank you for agreeing to contribute to HANDBOOK OF ADVANCED CERAMIC COATINGS:
FUNDAMENTALS, MANUFACTURING, AND CLASSIFICATION (the “Work”) edited by Ram
Gupta, Amir Motallebzadeh, Saeid Kakooei, Tuan Anh Nguyen and Ajit Behera (the “Editor”) to be
included in the series entitled ELSEVIER SERIES IN ADVANCED CERAMICS, which is being edited as a whole by
Professor W. E. (Bill) Lee (the “Series Editor”). This Agreement between you (the “Contributor”)
and Elsevier Ltd. (the “Publisher”) regarding your contribution tentatively titled “VIS- and solar-active
photocatalytic ceramic coatings” (the “Contribution”) outlines the Contributor’s and the Publisher’s respective
obligations and rights.

A. The Contributor agrees that the Contribution will be the agreed-upon length, will contain the content
and substance as instructed by the Editor, and will be submitted in the form and manner and by the
date as agreed upon; the Contribution and all required material (including abstract, key words and
permissions) will also be delivered to the Editor as soon as it is complete for “article in press”
publicationThe Contribution will go into production as soon as it is approved by the Editor; once the
production process is complete and the Contributor has approved the final proofs, the Contribution
will be available on ScienceDirect. Upon approval of all the Contributions to this Work, the Work will
be published in print and online version as a complete work. If requested, the Contributor also agrees
to review proofs of the Contribution in the designated time period, making any necessary revisions and
answering queries, to help ensure the accurate publication of the Contribution. The Contributor will
keep one complete copy of the Contribution to ward against loss.

The Contributor shall also deliver with the manuscript the relevant illustrations (meaning photographs,
multimedia content (if any), drawings, sketches, diagrams, charts, maps, tabular matter and any other
accompanying material), along with captions for all such illustrations.

The Contributor shall also deliver with the manuscript an abstract of approximately 100-150 words of
the Contribution to the Work, and a list of approximately 5-10 keywords of the Contribution to the
Work all of which shall for purposes of this Agreement be included in the Contribution.

B. To facilitate publication of the Contribution, the Contributor assigns to the Publisher the copyright and
all other rights in and to the Contribution. This assignment of rights means that the Contributor has
given the Publisher the exclusive right to publish and reproduce the Contribution, or any part of the
Contribution, in print and all other forms of media, in any edition, revision, or other form, in all
languages, throughout the world, and the right to license others to do the same. The Publisher may list
the Contributor’s name and affiliation for credit, promotional and advertising purposes associated with
the Contribution in such manner which, in the Publisher’s judgment, fairly reflects the Contribution.
The Publisher may, but the Publisher is under no obligation to request the Contributor’s participation
in any subsequent editions of the Work, and the Publisher may use all or any of the Contribution in any
such revisions and/or editions or in any other manner or form without additional compensation other
than expressly provided in this Agreement.

C. As the author of the Contribution, the Contributor may publish a summary of the Contributor’s
original materials in the Contribution on the Contributor’s personal or institution’s website and may
make copies of up to ten percent (10%) of the Contributor’s original materials in the Contribution for
the Contributor’s classroom use. The Contributor also retains the right to draw upon the information
and materials contained in the Contribution for the Contributor’s continued professional and
educational use, such as for classroom and meeting lectures and in the preparation of journal articles or

book chapters. The Publisher does, however, require that in all cases the Contributor appropriately cites
the Work and the Publisher as the copyright holder of the Contribution.

D. The Publisher shall be entitled to terminate this Agreement on written notice if the Contributor or any
Co-Contributor commits a criminal act or otherwise acts in a manner (as determined by the Publisher
in its sole discretion) likely to bring the Publisher, the Editor, Co-Contributors, the Work, or the
Contribution into disrepute including but not limited to acting in a manner that violates the
Contributor’s ethical duties or obligations to the Publisher.

In addition, the Publisher expects that the Contributor and all Co-Contributors will treat the Publisher’s
employees with respect and professionalism. Accordingly, if the Publisher learns that the Contributor or
any Co-Contributor has engaged in conduct with regards to any employee of the Publisher that the
Publisher, in its sole discretion, considers to be bullying, disrespectful, inappropriate or unprofessional
(including, but not limited to, by using language or behaving in a way that is discriminatory or abusive),
the Publisher will notify the Contributor or Co-Contributor of the situation. If, in its sole discretion, the
Publisher determines that immediate and sustained improvement is not seen or the behavior is so
egregious that it would be unreasonable to subject any of the Publisher’s employees to any further
interaction with the Contributor or Co-Contributor, the Publisher shall be entitled to terminate this
Agreement on written notice. For the purposes of this section “Publisher’s employees” include
employees of Publisher’s affiliates.

E. The Publisher will provide the senior contributor of each Contribution one (1) print copy and one (1)
electronic copy of the Work, free of charge. Each contributor may purchase additional copies of the
Work, and other books published by the Publisher in print form (excluding the Publisher’s Major
Reference Works program) directly from the Publisher at a discount of 30%, all for personal use and
not for resale.

F. The Contributor confirms that the Contribution is original to the Contributor, has not been previously
published (except for the materials already published in previous editions of the Work and third-party material that is
either in the public domain or for which appropriate permission has been obtained), and the Contributor has the
right to grant to the Publisher the rights described above; the Contributor confirms that the
Contribution does not contain any material that infringes any third party rights or is harmful to the user.
The Contributor also confirms that to the best of the Contributor's knowledge the Contribution
contains no libelous, unlawful or otherwise actionable matter. Further, the Contributor also confirms
that the Contributor is familiar with all applicable conflicts of interest and outside compensation laws
and regulations as well as policies and rules of the Contributor's employer or institution (if applicable),
and that the Contributor's acceptance of this appointment (including the acceptance of any
complimentary copies of the Work), and the terms of this Agreement and the Contributor's
performance under this Agreement is and will be in compliance with those laws, regulations, policies
and rules. If the Contributor and/or any of the co-contributors reside in Iran, Cuba, Sudan, Burma,
Syria, or Crimea, the Contribution has been prepared in a personal, academic or research capacity and
not as an official representative or otherwise on behalf of the relevant government.

G. Should any materials in the Contribution be the work of others, said materials must be properly
credited, and the Contributor agrees to obtain and pay for any necessary grant of permission for use of
others’ materials, as well as any patient consents and releases. The Contributor shall also deliver with
the manuscript a permissions log to be completed in accordance with the Contributor instructions
provided by the Publisher together with copies of all the permission grant letters. The Publisher shall
supply the Contributor with the permissions log template.

H. The Contributor represents and warrants that he/she has disclosed in writing to the Publisher all actual
and potential competing interests, both financial and non-financial, if any in relation to the
Contribution. (Examples of financial conflicts include employment, consultancies, stock ownership,
honoraria, paid expert testimony, grants, patents or patent applications, and travel grants. Competing
interests may also arise as a result of personal relationships, academic competition, and intellectual
beliefs, such as political or religious beliefs.)

Work and all updates and derivatives thereof and the Contributor’s contact details, including postal and
email addresses, for purposes of communicating with the Contributor about the Work and writing,
reviewing, researching or contributing to other relevant projects with the Publisher.

J. If the Publisher decides not to proceed with publication of the Contribution, the Publisher will revert
all rights to the Contributor. The Publisher reserves the right to revise the Contribution if required to
render it suitable for publication, including the substitution of borrowed material.

this Agreement and that the Contributor is indicating agreement on their behalf. Further, the
Contributor represents that the Contributor is authorised to do so.
