Reflection Topic: Critical thinking and peer assessment

1. Critical thinking relates to peer assessment in many ways.

Assignments need to be researched and evaluated properly

by using critical thinking strategies, your ability and skills will

be implemented to give positive constructive feedback.

Strategies that I would recommend are as follows:

1.1Understand what you are reading

Make notes when reading, try to understand what has

been written and ask question to yourself that are

relevant to the subject or topic. If unsure do some

research on the subject, and read the assignment again.

1.2 Investigate arguments

Investigate the facts from the author, by using the

spectrum of authority strategy or tool. The spectrum is

 distinguished between the cold and hot end of the

argument. The cold end of the argument is defined as a

belief or opinion and up for debate. The hot end of the

argument is defined as scientific fact. This method is a

great method for investigation.

1.3 Clarify thinking

Create questions that will suit you and help with analyzing.

Using questions that start with “what” and “why” can assist

mainly. For example: “What was the objective of this

assignment?”

“Why did the author explained his theory over critical

thinking?”

By asking questions you can clarify a lot of information and it

will be more understandable.

1.4 Open minded

 Be open minded and not judgmental, rely on research and

facts and avoid assumptions. Respect the author and the

authors work, his beliefs and values might be different from

yours so you need to approach it with a clear mind and rate

the work on criteria and not on personal beliefs. Use the

strategies of critical thinking to accomplish the task.

2. I am not surprised at all with the assignment, I enjoyed the

written assignment, I must say it was challenging to plan and

construct the writing in order for others to understand it

easier, and I hope I achieved that. I have no concerns about

the assessment.
