THE LIZ MURRAY STORY

Liz Murray is an American inspirational speaker who is famous for gaining admission
to Harvard University despite having been homeless during her teenage years. Murray
was born on September 23, 1980, in The Bronx, New York City, New York, United States.
She is the daughter of Peter Finnerty (father) and Jean Murray (mother) and has one
sister Lisa Murray. She does not have any brothers. As her parents were infected with HIV
and heroin-addicted, she was forced to work bagging groceries and pumping gas at the
age of 9. She didn’t go to school when she was in grade 8 because of financial problems.
Her mom additionally had visual deficiency and maladjustment and AIDS-related
tuberculosis when Liz was 15.
Despite her taking so much care of her mother, her mother died when she was 16
due to AIDS. After her mother’s death, she decided to focus on herself and her studies.
She was good in her studies and cracked admission to Harvard University and graduated
from there. While she was doing her graduation, her father also passed due to AIDS.
During her career, Liz started to pursue writing and study material science, yet at the
same time had no steady place to remain. At the age of 17, she got her work done in
metro stations and stairwells. Since she began secondary school late, she multiplied her
course load and completed secondary school in two years. She was depicted by
performer Thora Birch in a 2003 made-for-TV motion picture Homeless to Harvard: The
Liz Murray Story. Moreover, her journal, ‘Breaking Night’ is expected from Hyperion
Books in 2005. She is popular admission to Harvard University despite having been
destitute amid her high school years, this New York-conceived motivational speaker and
