The Life of God blesses.

Focus verse: Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and
thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
 Blessed: Happy, fortunate, well off
 Hunger: An uneasy sensation occasioned by the want of food; a
craving of food by the stomach; craving appetite. Hunger is not
merely want of food, for persons when sick, may abstain long
from eating without hunger, or an appetite for food. Hunger
therefore is the pain or uneasiness of the stomach of a healthy
person, when too long destitute of food
 To humbled: De 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee
to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not,
neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know
that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live
 The invitation: Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the
bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he
that believeth on me shall never thirst.
 Thirst
 When you athirst you call on the Lord: Judg 15:18 ¶ And he
was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast
given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and
now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the
uncircumcised?
 God will hear them: Isa 41:17 When the poor and needy seek
water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I
the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake
them
 The living water: Joh 4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her,
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Joh 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give
him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall
be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Joh 4:15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water,
that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
 The invitation to God: Joh 7:37 ¶ In the last day, that great day
of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let
him come unto me, and drink.
 Righteousness: from 1342; equity (of character or act);
specially (Christian) justification:--righteousness.

Those who are poor and empty in their own spiritual poverty
recognize the depth of their need, and they hunger and thirst for
that which only God can give them. “They shall be filled” (Greek
chortazo) refers to a complete satisfaction. The psalmist
proclaimed: “He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the
hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:9).

This verse really needs very little explanation. Those who are
trying to be in right standing with God (righteousness), spend a
lot of time in the study of God’s Word. The more we seek, the
more we consume of the Word, the more we are filled. The only
way we can be blessed is to know that these blessings are
available, and to know how to act upon them. God’s Word
reveals the blessings.

Blessed are those who hunger: This describes a profound hunger

that cannot be satisfied by a snack. This is a longing that
endures and is never completely satisfied on this side of
eternity.
· This passion is real, just like hunger and thirst are real.
· This passion is natural, just like hunger and thirst are natural
in a healthy person.
· This passion is intense, just like hunger and thirst can be.
· This passion can be painful, just like real hunger and thirst
can cause pain.
· This passion is a driving force, just like hunger and thirst can
drive a man.
· This passion is a sign of health, just like hunger and thirst
show health.

Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and

going about to establish their own righteousness, have
not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of
God.

Phil. 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own

righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is
through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is
of God by faith:
