ART AS A WAY OUT OF ENFRAMING
Since the dangers of technology have unfolded
and are evident, it is necessary for us to reflect on
our actions to avoid it (Heidegger, 1977).
We should realize that enframing nature can
prevent poiesis. Thus, we are depriving ourselves
in appreciating the significance of nature into our
being and in witnessing how technology reveals
the realm of truth of the universe.
ART AS A WAY OUT OF ENFRAMING
For Heidegger, art is an activity of the mind. So
it has the capacity to shift the minds of the
people from using calculative thinking and to
start appreciating the value of nature through the
use of meditative thinking.
Hence, when we realize that nature is the most
beautiful art, we may see its worth and start to
take good care of it.
1.7 HUMAN CONDITIONS
(BEFORE AND AFTER
SCIENCE AND
TECHNOLOGY)
THE HUMAN CONDITIONS BEFORE COMMON
ERA
Homo erectus has been using fire to cook, all
the while without realizing the laws of friction
and heat.
People discovered minerals and began forging
metalwork just like their jewelries considered to
be a luxury, such as bones of animals they hunt.
THE HUMAN CONDITIONS BEFORE COMMON
ERA
Fur clothing and animal skin are primarily used
for comfort against harsh winds. They begin to
cover themselves up out of necessity.
People of the time had also painstakingly
wrought (work) and hewed (carve) said figures
in honor of some deity.
THE HUMAN CONDITION DURING COMMON
ERA
1. Mortality Rate.
Due to technology, lesser women and children die
during birth, assuring robust population and strong
workforce.

2. Average Lifespan.
Aside from the reason that people engage in less
combat and are less likely to die in treatable diseases
now as opposed to then, science is able to prolong
lives by enhancing living status and discovering
different remedies to most diseases. Distribution of
medicines is also made easier and faster.

3. Literacy Rate.
Access to education provided to more individuals
generally creates a more informed public that could
determine a more just society.
