CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Technology and advancement are two different things. According to IGI Global
(n.d.), technology is the development, application, and knowledge of tools, techniques, crafts,
forward in position or progress. To put these two together, technological advancement is the
technology (Sred, 2022). Education has been evolving ever since technology stepped in.
Students in schools now have the freedom to easily get sources of knowledge and also
connect with their fellow students. With the help of technological advancements, educators
hope to influence pedagogical change and address fundamental problems that affect students
with special needs. Therefore, technology can be viewed as both a tool and a catalyst for
change. Modern technologies are widely used to enhance and facilitate learning (Waddell,
2015).

LITERATURE REVIEW
It is a widely held belief that using technology to aid learning necessitates that
students become tech-savvy in order to function well in society. For this reason, delivering a
top-notch education entails the requirement that teachers successfully utilize educational
tools in their classrooms and instruct their students in using technology. Increasing access to
educational technologies, increasing the use of technology for instructional purposes, and
improving the efficacy of technology use to facilitate learning are the three areas of focus we
have based our overview of technology integration research in this chapter around.
Perhaps the most recent wonder to raise our standard of living is technology. The
most challenging activities may now be made easier and more effective thanks to technology.
Technology has made it possible for information to be shared instantly and for
Additionally, because to technology, kids can now learn and engage in ways that were
previously impossible in a traditional classroom. According to Spears (2012), she outlines the
first 1:1 technology program that was used in a collegiate context and cites Donovan,
Hartley, and Strudler (2007). According to Spears (2012), Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow
was the first company to offer teachers and students 1:1 computer access (ACOT). The goal
of ACOT was to help educators change the way they do their work so that it can be more
effective. Spears continues to discuss Microsoft’s 1:1 initiative through the Anytime
Anywhere Learning (AAL) program. Spears (p. 1) cites the work of Donovan et al. There are
many benefits to 1:1 technology integration programs, such as an increase in enthusiasm for
teaching and learning, an improvement in student writing skills, and a rise of authentic and

purposeful use of technology. These programs helped pave the way for presidents,
legislators, administrators, and educators to become more aware of the positive impact that
technology can have on both the student and the teacher in the classroom.
The main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between the GPA
The Teachers,
The result of this study will give them detailed insights on understanding how the
students react when using technologies in school and how it also affects their academic
performance. This will also serve as widening the narrative on how to handle students that
The Parents,
The study would also be beneficial to the parents as they are being educated about
how the satisfactory of their children on using technology in school affects their children’s
academic performance.
To Future Researchers,
This study would benefit the future researchers who may use this as a point to expand
school and how it affects their academic performance. They might be able to delve deeper

METHODOLOGY
This chapter deals with the research design, respondents, sampling technique,
instruments, data generation, data collection processes, and statistical treatment of data which
RESEARCH DESIGN
The researchers used a correlational design since this study seeks to investigate the
research to become more reliable and valid. Pritha Bhandari (2021) said that a correlational
controlling or manipulating any of them. A correlation reflects the strength and/or direction
of the relationship between two or more variables. The researchers use correlational design to
determine the relationship between the two variables which are GPA and the level of
RESPONDENTS
The target respondents of our study are the first-year School of Computing college
students who are currently enrolled at Holy Angel University. The researchers chose to
gather a sample size of 100. The researchers are using the standard confidence level of 95%.

The participants were chosen by the researchers as they are the most qualified and accessible
in this time of the pandemic. Due to face-to-face protocols, the researchers will use the Likert
Scale by Likert (1932) for the level of satisfaction and an item statement for the GPA using
SAMPLING DESIGN
The study used the sampling method known as the Simple Random Sampling design.
The Simple Random Sampling design is used in this study with the reason of giving
respondents in the population sampled a chance of selection with the probability of being
selected as a respondent an equal chance. The data collected will be selected from 1 st year
SOC students inside Holy Angel University in order for the researchers to have a preferable
access for data collection. Due to limited resources due to having pandemic protocols and
limited face-to-face classes, the researchers have used a small amount of population inside
the University and its college population thus, the researchers used Simple Random
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
The researchers will utilize a Survey rating scale questionnaire via a Google Forms:
the Likert Scale by Likert (1932) that consists items that will determine the level of
satisfaction of a student followed by a single statement regarding the GPA of the 1 st year
SOC students which the researchers have developed. These tests will be given online because

there will be less in-person interaction, making it easier for participants to access and
respond. In order for the study to be trustworthy and valid, the researchers also made sure
that the questions were in line with the statement of the problem.
To eliminate sampling bias, the sample for this study will be drawn from Holy
Angel University students using a simple random sampling procedure. Participants in this
study will be first-year SOC students of Holy Angel University who will be asked to
To collect data, respondents will be sent a google form survey questionnaire via chat
and email. The survey will include a permission form that will tell participants about the
nature and aim of the study, as well as remind them that their participation is entirely
voluntary and that they can drop out at any moment. The first portion of the survey will ask
students about their voluntary participation, and the second is about their level of satisfaction
with technological advancements in schools, third, the Likert Scale by Likert (1932) and
The researchers will be sure that the information they obtain is kept private and
securely stored on a device that is only available to them. Data will only be used for

With regards to the level of satisfaction questionnaire, the Likert Scale by Likert
(1932), respondents were to choose from each item one of the following options: 1 =
Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Neutral, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree. The score for
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
The researchers will strictly ensure the protection of the research participants that take
in the survey in every way. The research participants take part in the survey voluntarily; there
is no compulsion in the survey. To accomplish this, letters of consent from the researchers
were sent via email prior to the survey, and measures were taken to ensure that the research
participants were fully and clearly informed about the survey. Throughout the data collection
process, the security of the research participants' private information, confidentiality, privacy,
