EXPERIMENT-4

Aim: Study and Configuration of web server using Cisco Packet Tracer Simulation Tool

Apparatus (Software): Desktop/ Laptop, OS(Windows, Ubuntu, Android )

Theory:
Dynamic Host Configuration protocol(DHCP)
Domain Name Server(DNS)
Web Server(HTTP)
File transfer protocol(FTP)
Procedure:
 Configuration of DHCP
1. Build the network topology in packet tracer

2. Configure static IP address on the server.

3. Now configure DHCP service on the generic server.

4. To do this, click on the server, then click on Services tab. You will pick
DHCP on the menu. Then proceed to define the DHCP network parameters
as follows:

5. Pool name: DHCP

6. Default Gateway: 10.0.0.1
7. DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
8. Start IP Address: 10.0.0.3
9. Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0
10. Maximum Number of users: 512

11. Click on add then Save. The DHCP entry is included in the list.
12. Here are the configurations on the server:
13. Once you’ve configured everything, turn ON the DHCP service.
14. Finally, enable DHCP configuration on each PC. The three PCs
should get automatically configured.

DNS Server Configuration

1. Build the network topology.
2. Configure static IP addresses on the PCs and the server. Server. ...
3. Configure DNS service on the generic server. To do this, click on the server,
then Click on Services tab. ...
4. Test domain name – IP resolution. Ping the hosts from one another
using their names instead of their IP addresses.

Conclusion:
 By using the Cisco Packet Tracer simulation tool we learnt to configure a
router to support HTTP protocol, set up access control, and secure remote
access to the server. This exercise can help develop skills in networking,
network security, and server administration, which are valuable for IT
professionals and students in related fields.

 Gain understanding of the fundamental concepts involved in web server

management and networking, including IP addressing, subnetting, and
access control.
