BACKGROUND
Chapter 12 of the applicable Engine On-Site Operation and Maintenance manuals define the requirements
and frequency for performing preventive maintenance checks, inspections, and servicing.
Preventive maintenance and servicing inspections and checks are performed to reduce unscheduled
shutdown time.
The operator has the responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the gas turbine and its supporting
systems.
The purpose of this Service Letter is to update and highlight recommended periodic inspection and
maintenance requirements for all LM6000 gas turbine schedule maintenance as defined in Table 12-1, 12-1a
and 12-b. Changes are indicated with a line in the left hand margin and bold letters where the changes
occur. The modifications will be added to the next manual revisions.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Review the new table and compare it with your current maintenance plan. If differences exist adjust
your plan based on GE’s recommendations and your operational experiences.
2. Special note should be given to the requirement to semiannually inspect the redundant overspeed
system functionality using a simulated speed signal input.
3. If you have questions or require some of the referenced documents please contact your GE CSM/CPM
for further clarification.
