Firefighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media-Alcohol-resistant foam. Carbon dioxide
(CO2). Dry chemical.
Unsuitable extinguishing media-High volume water jet.
Hazardous decomposition products -Carbon oxides. Sulfur oxides.

Handling
Advice on safe handling -Avoid formation of aerosol. Do not breathe
vapors/dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion-Take necessary action to
avoid static electricity discharge (which might cause ignition of organic
vapors). Use only explosion-proof equipment. Keep away from open
flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Safety data Flash point : -48 °C (-54 °F)

Lower explosion limit : 2.8 %(V)
Upper explosion limit : 18 %(V)
Autoignition temperature : 295 °C (563 °F)
pH :

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability :- This material is considered stable under normal
ambient and anticipated storage and handling conditions of temperature
and pressure.
Hazardous reactions:-May react with oxygen and strong oxidizing agents,
such as chlorates, nitrates, peroxides, etc.
Hazardous decomposition products :- SO2 & CO2
Conditions to avoid : Heat, flames and sparks.

Toxicological information Acute oral toxicity -LD50: 682 mg/kg

Acute inhalation toxicity- LC50: 11 mg/l Exposure time: 4 h

Precautionary Statements Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. No smoking

Keep container tightly closed.

Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.

Use explosion-proof electrical/ ventilating/ lighting/ equipment.

Use only non-sparking tools.
Take precautionary measures against static discharge.
Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray.
Wash skin thoroughly after handling.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
Wear protective gloves/ eye protection/ face protection.
IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position
comfortable for breathing.
IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove
contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

In case of fire: Use dry sand, dry chemical or alcohol-resistant foam for
extinction.
Propane-Liquefied gas

Flammable Gases- Category 1

Extremely flammable gas.
May cause frostbite
May displace oxygen and cause rapid suffocation.
May form explosive mixtures with air.

Severe cold burns can result in carcinoma

Do not extinguish fire unless the leakage can be stopped. Use dry
chemical, CO2 or foam.
Unsuitable extinguishing media-High volume water jet.
The rupturing of cylinders or bulk containers due to excessive exposure to
a fire could result in a BLEVE

Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in a segregated and

approved area.
Eliminate all ignition sources.Keep away from heat, sparks, and open
flame. No smoking. Electrical equipment should be approved for classified
areas.

Flash point- Closed cup: -104°C (-155.2°F)

Lower: 2.1%
Upper: 9.5%
Autoignition temperature 480°C

Conditions to avoid The dilution of the oxygen concentration in the

atmosphere to levels which cannot support life. The
formation of explosive gas/air mixtures.

However, on combustion, toxic compositions, typically carbon monoxide

may be formed.
Propane is relatively stable.

Acute Toxicity TLV 800 ppm

Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition
sources. No smoking.
Leaking gas fire: Do not extinguish, unless leak can be stopped safely. In
case of leakage, eliminate all ignition source
Butane-Liquefied gas
