Personal Time Off
Personal Time Off
In an effort to recognize the need of employees who require time off, Harlow
Salon offers their staff the following vacation/sick time policy without pay.
Eligibility
All regular employees employed by Harlow Salon for a minimum of 90 days are
eligible to apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence. Job performance,
absenteeism and appointment requirements all will be taken into consideration
before a request is approved. Approvals of the owner’s are required. Requests
for unpaid personal leave may be denied or granted by the company for any
reason or no reason and are within the sole discretion of the company. Harlow
Salon reserves the right to terminate employment for any reason or no reason
during the leave of absence.
Employee
Owners
* All Saturday’s that are scheduled for stylist must be worked prior to the
requested vacation (i.e. stylist is scheduled for 3 Saturday’s in January and
vacation pending the second week in February, if stylist misses one of the 3
scheduled Saturdays in January, the stylist is required to work that first February
in order to have the vacation time in February.)
An employee is required to return from the unpaid personal leave on the originally
scheduled return date. If the employee is unable to return, he or she must request an
extension of the leave in writing. If Harlow Salon declines to extend the leave, the
employee must then return to work on the originally scheduled return date or be
considered to have voluntarily resigned from his or her employment. Extensions of
leave will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Exigent Circumstances
As we all know, life has many circumstances that require urgent and immediate
attention. Should you require time off of work due to the following circumstances:
* Death in the immediate family
* To care for a sick child
* Unexpected injury
Should any of these situations arise you must let management know as soon as
possible to reschedule appointments. Any of these that require more than 2 days off
consecutively will require verification provided by the owners.
* Personal sick days will require a doctors note in order to not lose vacation days
Maternity Leave
The salon allows up to 8 weeks unpaid maternity leave for any staff member who has
been employed by the salon for 90 days or more.
Stylists are allowed to “make up” days as long as they are within a two week pay period
during the month of requested time of. Days worked within that pay period vacation
days will not be counted against.
