Title:
Quantitative genetics of Taura syndrome resistance in pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei): A cure
model approach
- Animals from the same full-sib family were randomly selected and tagged with a common color
code by injecting differently colored fluorescent elastomers into the 6th abdominal segment of
each animal. Each batch was tested separately in three different test-tanks. Shrimp from the
first batch were orally infected with TSV-infected minced muscle tissue for seven consecutive
days at a feeding intensity of 10% of the tank biomass per day.
5. What are the potential research topics as follow up to the present study?
- These results indicate that geneti variation in recorded end-survival and time until death of the
current data set is dominated by genetic variation in susceptibility. Stopping the test at an
earlier stage would shift the focus of selection towards endurance (especially for classical
models).
