QS-A: Do you believe that women derail their own careers?

Ans: I believe that Most of the women derail their own careers. and right now, the present world
women career survey where 64 percent who say ‘yes’. There are many reasons that women derail
their own careers. Most of the women would like to be able to work and take care of their
families. However, achieving this balance is a significant challenge for working women. As per
the survey results other issues, such as unfair treatment, abuse, harassment at work, lack of good-
paying jobs and unequal pay also emerged among the top problems in various regions of the
world.in that case sometimes women derail their own careers. In our country women try to
Balance between work and family or home but they did not maintain properly because of work
pressure. But they give priority to their family and love to take care their children’s. in that case
they derail their own careers. balancing work and family are the No. 1 challenge in developed
and emerging economies, while unfair treatment at work is the most frequently mentioned
concern in developing economies. And also, family restrictions are another reason where women
derail their own careers by forcedly. At the same time, lack of affordable care for children and
relatives is a bigger challenge in emerging and developing economies than it is in developed
ones. And unequal pay tops the list only in developed economies

In our country maximum women, they are focus on their families, children and also on. In that
case they cannot concern about their own carrier for the long time. They are moving into their
family after completing their study. And also, many women did not apply for job because of they
are justify themselves with job descriptions. If their qualification and work ability fully match
with the job description then they will apply for the jobs. If they find out little mismatch between
their ability with job description, they will ignore the jobs. And also, I find out some problems so
that women derail their own careers such as.

1. Not having a career plan: Women often face problems because of improper career plan
for a variety of reasons this include everything from concern that women will need to
take time off for maternity leave to well disguised and discrimination.

2. Lack of support: Women are facing problem regarding family support. Lack of support
from spouse hinders their potential desire to achieve their dreams. Some women have had
to let go of their dreams as a results of their unsupportive husband.

3. Lack of mentorship: Lack of mentorship for the young generation especially women
affect their overall development in the workplace as well as in their career. Most women
when given the opportunity are able to scale higher heights yet perceptions and lack
direction affect their decisions.

4. Lack of confidence and self-belief: Sometime our society passes some bad comments
towards women that time women losses their confidence and self belief.
5. Setting Family: It becomes difficult for some women to advance in their careers when
they have a family to take care of. Most employers have the perception that especially
expectant mothers cannot maintain the same professional footing as compared to their
male colleagues or women who do not have children. This in the long run affects the
earning potential of the women. Some women take long breaks to raise their children
which sometimes affects their careers because of the rapid changes in the job market

6. Not having a good relationship with her team leader: it becomes difficult to survive to
the jobs sector without making relationship with team leader. Sometimes women did not
comfort making a relationship with team leader. After that they cannot share their
problem or opinion with team leader. they are making a distance between them. it should
help to derail their own careers.

7. Having Poor Skills: Today’s job market is constantly increasing requirements on


competencies across all sectors. This poses a major challenge for the women with low
levels of education and others skills in the world. Women with low qualifications find it
especially hard to access jobs with decent pay. Only few of low qualified women are
employed and almost half of these work in a precarious job. And sometimes they are
derailing their own careers because of low qualifications and poor skills.

8. Lack of work: life balance, familial issues, childcare and workplace harassment are the
topmost challenges for working women worldwide. Those challenges women face at the
workplace. There are more challenges where women facing in the job place and get
demotivated such as, Unfair abuse at work, Lack of flexible work hours, Lack of good-
paying jobs, lack of safe transportation. In those reason women sometimes derail their
own careers.
