2 TABLE OF CONTENTS:

 INTRODUCTION:
 PRE-RETROFIT ANALYSIS
▪ Background noise
▪ Reverberation time
▪ Speech privacy & speech intelligibility
▪ Sources of noise & layout arrangement
 POST RETROFIT ANALYSIS
▪ Background noise
▪ Reverberation time
▪ Speech privacy & speech intelligibility
▪ Sources of noise & layout arrangement
3 INTRODUCTION

 FUNCTION OF SPACE:

 Salient AS Standards to be considered for Offices & call centers

 AS/NZS 2107:2000 Background Noise
 AS/NZS 2107:2000 & 2014 Reverberation Time
 AS/NZS 2107: 2000 Speech Privacy & Speech Intelligibility
4 Problems to be addressed:

 No comfort cart at call center.

 At least two comfort meter
required to be installed at suitable
location covering the whole area
of call center.
 Back ground noise generated
due to poor quality glass at both
front & back side view.
 High reverberation time due to
presence of no reflective
surfaces.
5 Problems to be addressed

 Background Nosie:
6

 Reverberation time:
7 Reverberation time

 Reverberation curve for control

room, offices or call centers.
 According to AS/NZS 2107:2000
reverberation time for call centers
ranges from 0.1-0.4 sec & the
area of the call center is 3154cft
to which reverberation time from
the graph is equal to 0.4 sec.
8

 Speech Privacy:
 Speech intelligibility background noise levels related to NC ratings
SPEECH INTELLIGIBILITY:
Speech intelligibility background noise levels related to NC ratings

10 PRE-RETROFIT ANALYSIS:

 Background Nosie:
11 PRE-RETROFIT ANALYSIS(CONT…)

 REVERBERATION TIME:  Reverberation time

for specifically for
call center ranges
from 0.1-0.4
sec.(Appendix 1
AS/NZS 2107:2000)
 we can visualize
from graph that
reverberation time is
more than 1.4 sec at
low frequency of
100-125Hz causing
noise & high echo of
sound.
12
13 POST RETROFIT ANALYSIS:
background noise absorption
 ACOUSTICAL GLAZING:  for removal of background noise
¼” laminated glass (STC-35) will
be used for exterior windows &
1/8” thick solid glass (STC-30) for
clusters desk at call centers to
provide not only economy but
healthy & comfortable
environment.
14 POST RETROFIT ANALYSIS (Cont.…)
Controlling reverberation time:

 Use of acoustic absorption:

▪ fibrous materials: Absorb sound as
sound waves by generating heat.
▪ Open cell foam
▪ reflective glazing will be used to
reduce reverberation time.
