ROAD INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RIMS) – INTRODUCTION TO HAZMAT/ DANGEROUS GOODS ONE DAY
WORKSHOP: CAPE WINELANDS DISTRICT

Dear Sir/ Madam

The South African National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) SOC is mandated by the Department of Transport to ensure that
Road Incident Management is implemented on all national roads across the country. To continuously improve the
management of ALL INCIDENTS, accident scenes and development of our emergency services, SANRAL in collaboration
with Western Cape Fire services has set up a one day workshop on an Introduction to Hazmat/Dangerous Goods
Awareness. This workshop is available to those who have previously attended the RIMS One day Training on the 19 April
2023, as part of this one day workshop delegates will be introduced to the following:

 Emergency Response Guidelines and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

 First Responder protocols
 Identification of Hazards and Hazmat
 Legislation Addressing Hazmat
 Response Priorities and Protective Actions
 RIMS Monitoring Processes

Over the last few years we have seen an increase in hazmat related incidents and it is critical that we expose as many of
the emergency response teams to this IMPORTANT workshop, in order to respond effectively. All participants who have
completed the workshop will be provided with an Attendance Certificate. The course will be free of charge for those
attending, and lunch will be provided for RSVP’d delegates.

Date: 18 May 2023

Time: 08h30 – 16h00
Venue: Du Kloof Lodge, N1 Highway, Paarl / Rawsonville

Please allow members who previously attended RIMS One-Day Training, from your respective offices, to attend this
course and RSVP with Tanya Cochrane at adminwc@africoast.com on or before close of business on
12th May 2023.

For RIMS to be effective, it is vital that as many as possible of the role players attending to road incidentsbe availed to
attend this workshop.

Your support and co-operation in the matter will be much appreciated.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries in this regard.

Kind regards
Tanya Cochrane
