Cautions
The manufacturer assumes no liability for problems that occur when you do not follow
these cautions, as well as the general cautions outlined in the Safety and Regulatory
information in this manual.
CAUTION:
• Only charge the battery in the CARESTREAM DRX-1 Battery Charger, DRX-Revolution
batter charger, or on the detector when tethered.
• Do not use this battery as a power source for equipment other than a Carestream
manufactured or compatible equipment.
• Do not use a battery charger other than the DRX-1 Battery Charger. Fire, explosion,
or burn hazard could result if the user does not follow these instructions.
• Use of third party battery chargers could result in fire, explosion, or burn hazard could
result if the user does not follow these instructions.
• Do not attempt to disassemble or alter the battery.
• Do not drop or subject the battery to severe impacts.
• Stop using the battery immediately if it swells, emits smoke or an odor, or otherwise
behaves abnormally.
• Do not let the battery come in contact with water or other liquids. Discard the battery
if it comes in contact with liquids. The battery does not share the same fluid ingress
rating as the detectors.
• Follow the cleaning instructions. Do not use other solvents.
• Do not place the battery near or in a direct flame.
• Do not allow dirt or metal objects (such as pins or keys) to come in contact with the
terminals.
• Fire, explosion, or burn hazard could result if the user does not follow these
instructions.
• Avoid using, placing, or storing the battery where it would be subject to direct
sunlight, temperatures of 60 °C (140 °F) or higher, humidity > 86 %, or dust.
• Do not attempt to use a battery that has deteriorated. Using a battery that has
exceeded its life cycle may lead to overheating, fire, or an explosion.
• Remove and store the battery in the charger while the detector is not in use. Failure
to do so may damage the battery.
• If long-term storage of one month or more is required, make sure the battery is
returned to the charger at least once every three months. Storage at 4 °C (40 °F) is
recommended for long-term storage.
EMC
IEC 60601–1–2:2007–Medical Electrical Equipment Electromagnetic Compatibility
Requirements and tests, including CISPR 11:2009 + A1:2010 emissions Group 1, Class A.
CAUTION:
This is a class A product. In a domestic environment this product may cause radio interference, in
which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) ± 8kV contact ± 8kV contact Floors should be wood, concrete,
EN 61000-4-2:2009 ± 15kV air (max) ± 15kV air or ceramic tile. If floors are cov-
ered with synthetic material, the
relative humidity should be at
least 30 %.
Electrical fast transient/burst Not Applicable Not Applicable The battery uses no power
IEC 61000-4-4:2012 supply.
RF Emissions Group 1 The battery uses RF energy only for its internal function.
CISPR 11 Therefore, its RF emissions are very low and are not likely
to cause any interference in nearby electronic equipment.
Voltage Fluctuations/ Not Applicable The battery is suitable for use in all establishments other
Flicker Emissions than domestic and those directly connected to the public
low-voltage power supply network that supplies buildings
used for domestic purposes.
IEC 61000–3–3
NOTE 1: At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies.
NOTE 2: These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by
absorption and reflection from structures, objects, and people.
* Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base station for radio (cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile radios,
amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast, and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the
electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured
field strength in the location in which the system is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the system should be
observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as
reorienting or relocating the system.
† Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than 3 v/m.
Watts Meters
For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended sepa-
ration distance (d) in meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the fre-
quency of the transmitter, where P is the maximum output power rating of the transmitter in
watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.
NOTE 1: At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range
applies.
NOTE 2: These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is
affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects, and people.
Battery Operation
*
Important:
When a battery, in the charger, is fully charged, a green light will glow on the charger to indicate
that the battery is ready for use. It is not necessary to wait for a full charge before using the
battery.

Note:
Do not pull on the latch tab or spring. If this happens, the latch will lock open. Repeat the battery
unlatch procedure to reset the tabs.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:
Isopropyl alcohol is a flammable solution. Read and follow the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) before use.
CAUTION:
• Do not operate the equipment when cleaning the equipment.
• Do not spray cleaning solution directly onto the equipment.
Procedure:
1. Moisten a soft cloth with a 70 % solution of Isopropyl alcohol and wipe the surfaces.
2. Carefully clean dust from the contacts with a soft brush or compressed air if needed.
Disposal
CAUTION:
The battery can explode, leak, or catch fire if exposed to high temperature, water, or fire. Do not
short-circuit, open, or disassemble the battery. Dispose of properly.
CAUTION:
Before discarding the battery, cover the terminals with adhesive tape or other insulators. Contact
with other metal materials may lead to fire or an explosion.
In the European Union, this symbol indicates that when the last user wishes to discard
this product, it must be sent to appropriate facilities for recovery and recycling. Contact
