Robert Whittaker, born on December 20, 1990, is an Australian professional mixed

martial artist. He competes in the middleweight division and is widely regarded as one
of the top fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Whittaker was born in
Auckland, New Zealand, but his family moved to Australia when he was a child. He
began his martial arts journey with Hapkido before transitioning to kickboxing and
eventually finding his way to MMA. Whittaker made his professional MMA debut in
2009 and quickly gained attention for his striking skills and well-rounded abilities. In
2012, Whittaker became a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes,
representing Team Australia. He won the welterweight tournament, earning himself a
UFC contract. Whittaker then made the decision to move up to the middleweight
division, where he found great success. Throughout his UFC career, Robert Whittaker
has faced and defeated several notable opponents. His impressive victories include wins
over fighters such as Ronaldo Souza, Derek Brunson, Uriah Hall, and Jacare Souza.
Whittaker's skill set is characterized by his powerful striking, effective footwork, and
solid takedown defense. Whittaker's most notable accomplishment came when he
became the interim UFC Middleweight Champion in 2017. He later unified the title by
defeating Yoel Romero in their rematch. However, he lost the title in his first defense
against Israel Adesanya in 2019. Since his loss to Adesanya, Whittaker has been working
his way back to another title shot. He has secured impressive wins against top
contenders such as Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, and Kelvin Gastelum, reestablishing
himself as one of the division's elite fighters. Outside of the Octagon, Whittaker is
known for his humble and respectful demeanor. He is highly respected by his peers and
