Employment Objective
I have recently completed my Certificate III in Education Support, and within this
course I was able to fulfil my work placement requirements at Our Lady of Mercy
Primary School. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience as it helped me to realise the
standard with which I choose to assist students and teachers in the classroom.
Recently whilst working at Giant Steps and Our Lady of Mercy Primary School I was
confident in my ability to assist students and teachers, with a willingness to be
flexible when dealing with difficult situations. I am content that I do this in a
professional manner at all times and I have proven that I am able to assist more
than one student at a time with high needs, especially if their goals are different to
the majority of the class, requiring them to function separately. This was the case at
Giant Steps, where the level of disability varies from student to student. In some
cases I was required to use basic sign language to communicate with students that
are mute as well as using their sight cards to meet their needs.
I understand that it is paramount that I as a teacher’s assistant work well with the
teacher, ensuring that all students’ needs are met to the best of our ability and that
the general running of the class is not disrupted by those that require the extra
assistance. I am dedicated to this and understand the need for continuous positive
progress whilst working with all students, regardless of their needs or abilities.
