Inertia

The inability of a body to change its state of

Rest or Motion is called as inertia.
Newton’s 1st Law Of Motion

A Body at rest will remain at rest & a Body in

motion will remain in motion until & unless
some external force is applied on it.
Force
Force

A push or a pull is called Force

Momentum

● It is the product of the mass

and velocity of a body.
p = mv
Newton’s 2nd Law
Newton’s 2nd Law

The net force acting on a body is responsible

for is rate of change of linear momentum.
Newton’s 3rd Law

For every action,

there is an equal &
opposite reaction.
Remember!!
Action and Reaction never cancels
each other as they always act on
two different objects.

Basic forces

Tension force in string

Force of Gravity
m
M 𝛼
Weight

● It is the gravitational force of Attraction of the Earth.

● It always act towards the centre of Earth

● It acts on all the masses in all situations.

Normal Reaction
𝜭
Normal Reaction

● It comes into play when two surfaces come in contact.

● It always act perpendicular to the surfaces in contact.

● It acts on both surfaces equally but in opposite direction
Tension

Force of strings away from object
in entire string is
constant
Equilibrium

If the Net force on body is zero ,

it is said to be in equilibrium.

Fnet = 0
Most Important !!!
If Net force on body is non-zero, the
body accelerates in the direction of
net force such that

FNet = ma
