INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS:

1. This assignment covers (CLO3 / C4) - Allocates 20% of carry marks.

2. You are required to work in GROUP (approximately 5 – 6 people).
3. You are required to choose two journal articles that are related to Human Resource
Management. The journal articles must be approved by the lecturer before you can proceed
with your assignments.
4. The font must be Arial, font 12, justified, 1.5 spacing and include page number. Minimum
page: 3 pages
5. Front page of the assignment should consist of (name and ID number), lecturer’s name,
program, class and session.
6. Please submit your assignment directly to your lecturer or via google classroom or any other
suitable platform.
7. Plagiarism, copying and cheating will not be tolerated, where no marks will be awarded and
disciplinary actions can be taken.

1. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME

CLO 3 Differentiate research designs in chosen articles. (C4)

2. PROBLEM STATEMENT:
For this assignment, you need to choose two journal articles and discuss the differences in the
research designs. There are two types of research designs - qualitative and quantitative designs.
The purpose of each design is to set out a detailed plan of the method(s) that the researchers have
chosen to investigate their research problems.
i. Describe the procedures that the researchers have chosen.
ii. Explain how the research designs help in answering research questions.

Content of the Research Design Assignment:

● Introduction: Write the topic of the study, which serves as the identification sentence. It should
indicate what the articles contain. You are required to state the title of the articles, names of
the researchers, journals, objectives of the studies as well as the findings.
● Body: This includes the subtopics that you are addressing. Based on two journal articles, explain
about the differences in research designs. You need to explain the differences in terms of the
research designs that the articles used. Explain any strengths and weaknesses of the research
designs used in both articles. You also need to strengthen the discussion by giving
statements or information from other readings or from other researchers. Do not forget to
use proper citation as you are using other people’s information to strengthen your discussion.
● Conclusion: It should briefly state your rationale for your review and the purpose of the
article.
