Passive Voice
In a passive voice sentence, the subject receives the action. The doer of the action is
placed after 'by' or is absent from the sentence.

3 steps to change the active voice to the passive voice:


1. move the direct object to the subject of the sentence
2. move the subject to the end of the sentence and add 'by'
3. change the verb form

Example: Phoebe eats the apple.


1. direct object becomes the subject
New subject: The apple
2. Subject to the end and add 'by' ->
The apple eats by Phoebe.
3. Change the verb form
The apple is eaten by Phoebe.
