Introduction:
The medical and pharmaceutical journals, review journals,
periodicals, bulletins and books containing specific and
particular information and theory about drug molecules
are termed as “Pharmacy Information Resources”. There
are many different types of information resources,
including: websites, encyclopedias, YouTube, people,
books, databases, newspapers, magazines, pharmacopeia,
thesis paper etc.
Pharmaceutical information
resources:
There are a lot of sources from where we can get the
information of all types of drugs.
(I) Primary source of drug information
(II)Secondary source
(III)Special information
(IV)Pharmaceutical database
(V) WHO bulletin and journals
(VI)Drug directory
(VII)Physician’s desk reference
(VIII)Text book of pharmacy and pharmacology
(IX)Handouts of the pharmaceuticals manufacturers.
Pharmaceutical information
resources:
There are a lot of information sources which are reliable
and very rich with information about drugs, chemical
substances, uses of drugs etc. Some of them are given
below-
(I) Websites
(II)Encyclopedias
(III)Books
(IV)Databases
(V) newspapers,
(VI)magazines,
(VII)pharmacopeia
(VIII)thesis paper
(IX)Medical record
(X) Pharmaceutical journals
(XI)Encyclopedia etc.
Book:
A book is a set of written, printed, illustrated, or blank
sheets, made of ink, paper, parchment, or other
materials, usually fastened together to hinge at one side.
Books may help to get information in pharmaceutical
science. Books are very useful source of information for
pharmaceutical science. This kind of books are-

Biosimilar drug product development, Pharmaceutical

experimental design, Pharmaceutical market access in
emerging markets etc.
Merck Index:
Merck Index is a source of information on chemicals,
drugs, and biologicals. It includes substance monographs,
named reactions, and reference tables. It is regularly
updated with accurate information curated by chemistry
and pharmacology experts.

The Merck Index is an encyclopedia of chemicals, drugs

and biological with over 10,000 monographs on single
substances or groups of related compounds. It was
published by the United States pharmaceutical company.
An online version of The Merck Index, including historic
records and new updates not in the print edition, is
commonly available through research libraries. The
current edition is the 15th, published in April 2013.
Encyclopedia:
A work that contains information on all branches of
knowledge or treats comprehensively a particular branch
of knowledge usually in articles arranged alphabetically
often by subject. The encyclopedia details best practices
of equipment used, methods for manufacturing, options
for packaging, and routes for drug delivery.
Pharmacopoeia:
A pharmacopoeia, pharmacopeia, or pharmacopeia, in its
modern technical sense, is a book containing directions
for the identification of compound medicines, and
published by the authority of a government or a medical
or pharmaceutical society. Descriptions of preparations
are called monographs. There are some certified
pharmacopeia like as- British Pharmacopeia, United State
Pharmacopeia, Indian Pharmacopeia, Bangladesh National
Formulary etc.
Pharmaceutical journals:
Pharmaceutical journal is a journal in which all the latest
news, information and learning resources on pharmacy
and pharmaceutical sciences published by the Royal
Pharmaceutical Society, are arranged typically. The
Pharmaceutical Journal is updated online daily with
authoritative content on global pharmacy and
pharmaceutical science. The Pharmaceutical Journal
brings you the latest news on policies and clinical research
to developments affecting the pharmacy profession and
the industry. It provides insightful comment articles and
career advice, as well as comprehensive learning and
continuing professional development (CPD) resources.
Website:
A website is a collection of web pages and related content
that is identified by a common domain name and
published on at least one web server. The Pharmaceutical
Technology website contains information on clinical trials,
cold chain, diseases, drug development, manufacturing.

Review:
In the scientific literature, review articles are a category of
scientific paper, which provides a synthesis of research on
a topic at that moment in time. A compilation of these
reviews forms the core content of a 'secondary' scientific
journal, with examples including Annual Reviews, the
Nature Reviews series of journals and Trends. From
review we can get very useful information.
Thesis report:
A thesis, or dissertation (abbreviated diss.), is a document
submitted in support of candidature for an academic
degree or professional qualification presenting the
author's research and findings. Thesis report also can be
a very important pharmaceutical information resources.
Medical record:
The terms medical record, health record, and medical
chart are used somewhat interchangeably to describe the
systematic documentation of a single patient's medical
history. The medical record includes a variety of types of
"notes" entered over time by health care professionals,
recording observations and administration of drugs and
therapies, orders for the administration of drugs and
therapies, test results, x-rays, reports, etc. Sometimes
medical report can be important information resources.
Open Access
Journal:
A journal is defined 'open access' when there are no
financial, legal or technical barriers to accessing it - that is
to say when anyone can read, download, copy, distribute,
print, search for and search within the information, or use
it in education or in any other way within the legal
agreements. At it’s most fundamental Open Access is
when publications are freely available online to all at no
cost and with limited restrictions with regards reuse. The
unrestricted distribution of research is especially important
for authors, readers and funders. Open access journal is
one of the most important information resources. From
here anyone can get information for free of cost.
Various types of book, journals, reports etc. are included
here
Advantages of open access journal-
There are many advantages of open access journals. Some of
those are given below—
(I) Free of All
(II)Increased Readership
(III)Access for Researchers in Developing Countries
(IV)Immediacy
(V) Search Options etc.
(I) Free of All: The core idea of open access is the basis of its
key advantage—articles are freely available for anyone who
wishes to read them. For readers and libraries, the benefits of not
having to pay for an individual article or journal subscription are
obvious.
(II) Increased Readership: For authors, publishing open access
rather than behind a paywall can help open up their research to a
wider audience. In an era where the number of articles being
published is skyrocketing, open access can help an article to be
more discoverable online. And ultimately, an increased number of
readers can convert into an increased number of citations for the
Advantages of open access journal-

III) Access for Researchers in Developing Countries: The

lack of access to subscription-based journals is a
commonly cited problem for researchers in low-income
countries. Open access can help provide scientists in such
countries with the opportunity to participate in the
international research community.
(IV) Immediacy: The research results can be made
immediately available to not just others within that
community but also those beyond, including other
scientists and laypeople.
(I) Search Options: An article can typically be more easily
located if it is in the open-access domain.
TOXLI
NE:
TOXLINE (TOXicology information onLINE) are the
National Library of Medicines extensive collection of online
bibliographic information of drugs and other chemicals.
TOXLINE and TOXLINE65 together contain more than 4
million citations, almost all with abstracts and/or indexing
terms and CAS Registry Numbers. The information in
TOXLINE is taken from secondary sources which
formulate the subfiles. Citations with publication year
1980 and older are located in the backfiles.
TOXLINE is the National Library of Medicine's online
