activist She became well known worldwide for her participation in the Harry Potter film
series as Hermione Granger and for independent films, as well as for her activism
mainly focused on women's rights.
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, daughter of British lawyers Chris Watson and
Jacqueline Luesby, both graduates of the University of Oxford, was born in Paris,
France, where she lived until she was five years old. Around the time her parents
divorced and she moved with her mother and younger brother, Alex, to Oxford,

her nomination, it was announced that her partnership with the UN would be initiated
in the “HeForShe” campaign, a solidarity movement for gender equality and which
encourages that the fight is not just for women. In September of that year, she gave a
campaign launch speech that had global repercussions and entered the list of speeches
that are always remembered. Since then, Emma Watson has suffered numerous
attacks – online, in person, in interviews related to her acting work – that questioned
the effectiveness of feminism and what role she was entitled to play.
In addition to acting, Emma Watson is a very passionate activist. Her trajectory as an
activist and feminist is very important and serves as an example and inspiration for
thousands of young people around the world. In 2019, she attended the G7 Council to
speak out on gender equality, another cause she champions. Five years earlier, she
created the HeForShe movement, which invites men to support gender equality and
reflect on how it would benefit society as a whole. In the same year, she was
appointed Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women, which works to promote gender
equality and empower women.
In 2014, Watson was appointed a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, launching
HeForShe, an initiative to include men in the conversation about gender equality. In
light of the #metoo revelations, last year she donated £1 million to help those affected
by sexual harassment, and last summer launched a legal advice line in England and
Wales for the same cause.

In conclusion, we agree with the principles she defends of gender equality, as
everyone should have the same opportunities, so she started a solidarity movement
for gender equality and encourages that the fight is not just for women.
