Angkor Wat is a famous monument in Cambodia. At one time, Angkor Wat was
the capital of the Khmer Empire. The main temple ate Angkor was built as a burial
place for Suryavarman II, an important Khamer king who lived in the twelfth
century. Suryavarman II was responsible for introducing some aspects of Hinduism
to his people. The temple has five towers – one tall central tower and four smaller
towers. The five towers symbolize the five peaks on Mount Meru where,
according to Hindu belief, the gods live.

Angkor Wat is famous for its beautiful stone carvings. It has the longest
continuous bas-relief, or carved wall, in the world. The carvings show scenes form
famous Hindu legends, tell the story of the King Suryavarman's life, and show how
