Municipal waste contains about 150 to 250 kg of organic carbon per ton. These substances are
biologically degradable and are converted by microorganisms into landfill gas. Stable,
anaerobic methane fermentation begins one to two years after the waste is deposited in the
landfill.

Following a simple rule of thumb, 1 million tons of deposited municipal solid waste will
produce landfill gas over a twenty-year period—an amount sufficient to fuel a gas engine
capacity of 1 MW.
1. Perforated tubes are drilled into the landfill body and interconnected by a pipe work system.
2. Using a blower, the gas is sucked from the landfill, compressed, dried and fed into the gas engine.
3. In most cases, the generated electrical power is fed into the public grid.
4. Since there is no buyer for the heat output in most cases, the thermal energy could be converted into further
electrical power.

Before Biodegradation 105 Days of Biodegradation
Biodegradable Additive used by IAT Product has been tested to increase the biodegradation of regular
synthetic polymers. The additives which are proprietary to IAT Product are showing test results of 15-25%
biodegradation of synthetic polymers within 30 days. biodegradable plastic company IAT Product has
tested their product within polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene and PET to enhance the ability of
these polymers biodegradability.

Biodegradable Plastic Additives

The biodegradable additive when combined with synthetic resin allows microorganisms to hydrolyze the
polymer chain allowing for a natural biodegradation process. These synthetic resins would take hundreds
of years for microorganisms to be able to consume them due to the polymer chain length (Molecular
Weight), the IAT Product biodegradable additive interacts with the enzymes which are produced by micro-
organisms for the reduction of the chain length. Once the chain length has been reduced the polymer’s
carbon can be consumed by hungry microorganisms looking for food to eat.

Biodegradable additives by IAT Eco are cost affordable and add between 4-10% to the resin cost for the
environmental solution. IAT Product biodegradable additive has been tested by 3rd party labs which
conduct the ASTM D5511 testing for biodegradation. IAT Product biodegradable additive is packaged at a
price that makes sense for consumers and manufacturers looking for a new product which is different than
competition at a price which is comparable to regular synthetic resin without the technology. The simple
biodegradable additive is added at a 1% load weight to the synthetic resin and it does not interfere with the
physical properties of the plastic product, it maintains all physical characteristics of the synthetic plastic
article and the shelf stability is unchanged. The additive which is produced in the United States by IAT Eco
is available worldwide through distribution or directly from IAT Product.
