Resistance Training Scenarios

Choose ONE of the scenarios below to design your program. Make sure you are clear on their
goal as you will need to justify your program design based on your clients goals.

Michael is in the U18’s Illawarra Rugby League team. He is naturally a thin build, but his goal is
to increase his upper body, core and leg strength so that he can be more effective in his tackles.
He is starting a resistance training program for the first time and lacks knowledge in what
exercises are suitable.

Ava likes to participate in a range of physical activities for leisure including rowing and cycling.
Although she participates in these activities for enjoyment she still wishes to increase her ability
to last longer engaging in these activities without getting muscular fatigue. She is starting a
resistance training program and would like to increase her muscular endurance and tone of
arms, back, core and legs.
