TOPIC TITLE: Buy and Sell Products based on Needs

An entrepreneur’s mantra “buy low, sell high” applies to a buy-and-sell

business venture. He/she looks for sources and buys his/her stock or products as
cheaper as possible. Then he/she resells them with the intentions of generating a
sizable profit. His/her confidence on these products is based on his/her knowledge
and institution that unmet need has been solved and will create a demand.

The demand indicates the need of the market. How and where can these products
bought and sold? There are several ways and means to know the answer to this question.

Producers (such as rice farmers) are contracted prior to

harvest by wholesalers. Once the produce is delivered, wholesalers
make an initial payment then deliver the produce to retailers.

Manufacturers (such as makers of milk, instant

coffee, and other processed food products) separate their distribution departments or
contracted several independent distributors. These distributors sell to outlets and
retails stores.

Micro and small enterprises (MSE) may be small players but they
compromise a large sector of self-employed Filipinos and independent
establishment. They are best exemplified by sari-sari stores that are almost
everywhere. They buy their products from wholesale or retail stores and
repack and resell these to consumers.

The evolving use of the internet facilities a fast and innovative business transaction between an individual
or company seller and buyer. This is called e-commerce. A seller does online selling; a buyer does online
shopping. The following are ways to sell online:
 Websites or smartphone applications such as iTunes store
 E-mail blast
 Text messaging
 Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
 Online auctions such as a eBay
 Daily deal and group buying websites such as OLX.com, Amazon.com, Lazada, Shopee and
Etsy.com.
