My name is Nurafiqah bt osmera from

as1204 group two. On this video I want to explain the

precaution step or how to dispose the chemical waste that

happened in kim kim river. As we know, what happened in kim

kim river have affected 6,000 people and 2,775 received

treatment. Most of the victims were school children — 110

schools were later closed along the river. This accident can we

prevent if the factory side know how to dispose the chemical

waste in the right way. The chemical waste that have been

throwed away into the kim kim river was very dangerous which

can cause headache, nausea, fainting and difficulty breathing if

inhaled.

The alternatives that the factory owner can do is they have to

dispose the waste in a chemical waste disposal site operated

by the Natural Quality Company in the country. Every state

have their own chemical waste disposal site. The investigative

team has identified the illegally disposed chemical as marine oil

that emits flammable methane gas and benzene fumes.

Benzene is a substance that has been classified as a

carcinogen, which is a substance that causes cancer. The

service has provided in the chemical waste disposal site are

trained and equipped to handle any hazardous waste. The

dangerous waste materials can be disposed in proper way so

that it cannot harming others and the environment

Kim kim river that are located at pasir Gudang, johor bahru

which used as a place to dispose of chemical waste have

effected the environment and the resident. this accident will not

happen if the owner of the factory is responsible to dispose the

chemical waste to the MBJB which is the Pembuangan dan

Pelupusan Sampah Sarap (MBJB) that are located at johor

bahru. The service that been provided are Collective, Removal

and Disposal chemical waste. The main reason why they throw

the chemical waste into the river because of this is paid service

based on load capacity. They do not want to waste their money

to this disposal activities. Operators can conduct the disposal

works using lorries to the disposal site based on the prescribed

standards or by appointing any MBJB-registered solid waste

disposal contractor.
