Part 1 (4 points): Business rules. 

Create business rule(s) for a given business scenario. Note you must establish facts linking terms. 
Involve numbers (quantity) whenever possible (not all cases are possible to involve numbers). You are 
FREE to make YOUR OWN assumptions – clearly state your assumptions.

Depending on your last initial, you will choose ONE problem from the following:
A­C: 1­2, D­L: 3­4, M­P: 5­6, Q­Z: 7­8.

1) Insurance forgiveness: Insurance companies forgive one accident for good drivers. Create business 
rule(s) for the conditions of the forgiveness.
2) Structure of an attorney’s charge to the clients, assuming the attorney does NOT charge flat fees (flat 
fees for one case). 
3) Students withdrawing from a course. Focus on timelines, and required procedure.
4) Dealing with the results of the home inspection in a home purchase. Focus on timelines, and 
responsibilities of fees.
5) Voting eligibility. Focus on age and status (whether the person is a registered voter – and how that is 
determined).
6) Legitimacy of a resolution by a committee or on a meeting (whether the resolution counts/whether it 
has the power, according to the constitution/bylaw of the organization)
7) Free checking account requirements. Focus on such things as number of products a customer use 
with the bank, minimum total balance, and number of debit card use.
8) Eligibility of student organization major officers –President, VPs, and Treasurer. Focus on their 
student/community member status and academic standing.
