Background
1. Indonesia ia a pruralistic country
2. The diversity of these social groups contains
the potential for hidden conflicts
3. Education becomes a strategic domain for
developing human beings to have harmonious
relationship in diversity (Raihani, 2018)
Research Question
1. How do principle, teachers, and students at
private school in Indonesia perceive multicultural
education as part of promoting Indonesia’s
diversity?
2. How does private school in Indonesia approach
multicultural education to promote Indonesia’s
diversity?

Literature Review
1. Rosyada (2014) and Raihani (2014) agree that
multicultural education is approached through whole
school .
2. Harjatanaya & Hoon (2020) believes that school
principal is the key resource to implement multicultural
education.
3. Arsal (2014) and Raihani (2020) recommends teacher
training for teaching diversity.
Methodology
Data Collection
1. Interview: principal, 3 students, and 3 teachers coming
from different background. It was audio taped.
2. Documentary research: School Curriculum, School
Standard Education, Video of school activities
3. Observation: Environment and community's activities
Analysis:
Data was analyzed through beneficial software "Quirkos".
I read, familiarize, code, create the theme, and report the
result.
Finding
RQ1

1. Principal and teachers believe that students are


unique human being.
2. Principal argue that diversity is the blood of the
school since the school is believed as miniature of
Indonesia.
3. Students understands that they come from
different background.
Conclusion
This study revealed that the value of diversity has been
the foundation of school.
Multicultural understanding can be achieved when
school has solid understanding regarding the diversity.
