Introduction

Dear brothers and sisters:

We are now on the third Sunday of Advent. This Sunday has been
traditionally known as Gaudete, which means “Rejoice!” As the great
feast of the birth of our Lord draws near, our longing to see Jesus also
grows more intensely with joy and hopeful anticipation. It is the same
joy that John the Baptist felt when Jesus reassured him during his
darkest hour that the reign of God has indeed come.

We pray that we might also experience a deep sense of joy or Gaudete

in our hearts whenever we, like John the Baptist, remain faithful to
the will of God.

Please stand and let us sing the entrance hymn.
