Introduction

AirAsia Company, which is Malaysia’s largest airline company, AirAsia was belong to
Government-owned, DRB-HICOM before TONY FERNANDES took over. Tony Fernandes, he is
the founder of tune air Sdn and was responsible for introducing Malaysian to the first low-
cost, no-frills airline. (UNL Vstud 2013) AirAsia established DECEMBER 1993 and the
company start operation with the concept Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) on 18 NOVEMBER 1996.
Its hubs are located in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and its fleet of more than 250
aircraft fly to more than 230 locations and conduct more than 1000 flights every day.
(Appendix 1) The company provide some services, which are the transportation service,
shipment service and cargo service with fair price. It also the first airline letting customer
with the facility pay their airline ticker by credit card. The company’s effort had not been in
vain, and it has been named as the best Low-Cost airline for the 11th consecutive year at the
Skytrax World Airline Awards. We know that AirAsia provide the affordable air-ticket for
us, it is also complied his slogan that is ‘Everyone Can Fly’. (AirAsia Group 2022)
Dato Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, a well-known Malaysian entrepreneur in Airline, the “boss’ of
AirAsia. Dato Tan Sri Tony Fernandes was born in Kuala Lumpur on 30th of April 1964. His
father is a Goan while his mother is a mixed of Indian and Asian-Portuguese (which is also
known as Kristang). His Primary education was in Kuala Lumpur with The Alice Smith
School, however starter from his age 12, which is from year 1976 to 1983, he has been move
to Epsom College, a boarding school in England, further he matriculated to the London
School of Economics and finally he graduated with a degree in accounting. He also joined as
ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountant) member in year 1991 and become
ACCA fellow member in year 1996 which also known as FCCA. He has since joined
ICAEW until now.
