Factor pairs
A factor of a number is an integer that divides exactly into the
number without leaving a remainder.

Example: 8 has four factors; 1, 2, 4, 8 How many factors does 16 have?

3
Independent task

1) State all the factors numbers for the integers

from 1 to 12. What do you notice?

2) Which integer(s) have the most factor pairs?

Which have the least?

3) Which integers have an odd number of

factors? Why?
I used counters to help find all the
factor pairs of 4. There are 2 factor pairs
but only 3 distinct factors.
