In my work over the last few years, I have occasionally used several different graphics aditing

programs. For raster photo editing, my favorite has been Adobe Photoshop. Occasionally, I have
needed to create vector graphics or to create edited video sequences, and in those instances, I have
used Corel Draw and Adobe Premiere Pro.

My favorite program for creating web graphics has historically been Adobe Photoshop because
of a legacy feature called “save for web” that makes creating high resolution, fast-loading web graphics
very simple. Since “47% of users expect a webpage to load in under 2 seconds, and 40% will abandon a
page that takes more than 3 seconds to load”, it is very important that web images be optimized to
obtain the highest quality possible while maintaining a small, fast-loading file size (Lazazzera, 2019) .
Adobe photoshop makes these qualities easy to obtain.

For vector images that can be scaled to any size for large scale print projects such as billboards,
Corel Draw has been my software of choice. Adobe Illustrator is also an option for creating vector
graphics and is included in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. However, Corel Draw is somewhat more
intuitive to learn and provides robust support for new users (Cornelius, 2019).

Video editing has become an important skill for graphic designers as high speed internet access
has become more universal. Adobe Premiere Pro is conveniently available in the Adobe Creative Cloud
Suite and allows users to edit both video and audio simultaneously (Cousins, 2019).
