COMPLIANCE: Recommended prior to 1 January 2020.

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin enables maintenance personnel to perform an “On Aircraft” Field Loadable
Software (FLS) upgrade of the GNS 530W/430W series units which changes and/or
improves a number of their capabilities and features as described in the Garmin Aviation
Service Document Notifications (ASDN) referenced in Appendix A.

If the HTAWS KIT 429-706-275 (BHT-429-II-49) is installed, or subsequently installed;

this software upgrade restores the GNS units HTAWS TSO-C194 compliance.

If the GTX330ES Transponder (ADS-B) retrofit kit 429-704-020 (TB 429-15-42) is

installed, or subsequently installed; this software upgrade renders the ADS-B Out
operation of the subject transponder compliant to FAA AC 20-165 when the GNS unit is
used as a position source.
