Introduction

Technical Volume Amplitudes (TecVA)

The lower rock layer thickness which can solve the seismic data is defined herein as a key element
for calculating weighting and obtaining seismic data volume using the technique amplitudes
(tecVA) with seismic processing after stacking, with and without phase rotation.

Thus, despite the robustness of this technique, the greater the degree of fidelity in making this
SCE values for a particular seismic data, the greater the response geologic structure and lithologic,
originating from the seismic data processed.

Note: this Attribute created & used for first time in Petrobras Company in Brazil
Theory Example

To the left a Section showing the seismic signatures of magmatic features in the area but
with original seismic amplitude, to the right same section but after processed with the
TecVA technique (rotation phase of 90°) (Bulhões & Amorim, 2005). This type of
processing has the advantage of making the seismic section similar to an outcropping
plane, enhancing the harder lithologies (e.g, sandstones, volcanic rocks) relative to the
softer ones (e.g., shales )
Workflow in Petrel

Where in the first ‘Volume Attribute’ process in the WF you define the input as Var A and output as Var
B. In the next ‘Volume Attribute’ process, define the input as Var B and the output as Var C and so on.
