Hackers Match Play Rules 2021

1. All matches to be standard match play rules with full CONGU handicap difference. All players should
contact Colin Martin to confirm their current CONGU society handicap.
2. All matches are 18 holes except the final which is 36 holes. (see rule 8)
3. Both players should attempt to arrange the match. If you are unable to play the match by the deadline,
please contact the organiser. An extension of time can be granted due to unforeseen circumstances like
injury or both players are taking leave but the players need to satisfy the organiser that efforts have been
made in good time to arrange the match and that the reason for the extension is not due to inaction.
4. The venue for the match is chosen by a toss of a coin. The winner of the toss may choose to play at a
course of his choice and he becomes the home player and must win the match to progress to the next round.
He can choose to be the away player in which case his opponent chooses the course and becomes the home
player. The away player only has to draw or win his match to go through to the next round. This ensures
that no matches end in a draw on a course where extra holes (sudden death) cannot be played. (see
exception to this rule below)
5. If both players are members of the same club, the home and away rule does not apply and extra holes
(sudden death) should be played if the match is all square after 18 holes.
6. The winner of the match must contact me before the deadline to inform me of the result, failure to do this
will result in disqualification.
7. Each finalist will choose one of the two courses to be played for the final and will become the home player
for that course. A toss of the coin should be used to decide which course is played first (if same course for
both rounds, the toss will decide who is the home and away player). If the match is all square at the
completion of 36 holes, the away player on that day is the winner unless rule 6 applies.

I will do my best to inform winning members who they will play in the next round but please contact me
within a couple of days of the start of each round if you have not heard from me.
