• 1 year = 12 months
2 years = 2 x 12 = 24 months
4 years 5 months = 4 x 12 = 48 + 5 = 48 months
• 1 century = 100 years
2 centuries = 2 x 100 = 200 years
3,5 centuries = 3 x 100 = 300 + 50 = 350 years

2. LENGTH, MASS, AND QUANTITY
LENGTH
We can use the metric ladder to convert from one unit to another by multiplying or dividing by
powers of 10.

MASS

We use this scale to find the mass of items that are light or to
measure mass less than 1 kg. One small marking stands for 10 g.

This pencil case is 500 g.
