Unit guidelines
In this unit, you will learn to give information and to ask questions about professions and occupations. You will also
learn expressions used to make formal and informal invitations and how to accept or refuse those invitations. This
unit will focus on the neighborhood setting. Throughout the unit you will have the opportunity to create your own
resume in English, as you will be given ideas in each of the five lessons.

“My resume”
Purpose
The purpose of this project is to guide you step by step towards the aim of writing your resume in English. Now that
you have your resume ready, it’ll be very useful for you when applying for a job position in which English is required.
Development
Before writing your resume, you should have a clear idea of the position you are applying for. You may do some
research through the company’s web page, talk to some employees or ask the employer directly before presenting
your application. You should also identify the abilities and skills you have which are related with the job you have
chosen to apply for. Remember to keep your resume simple. It should be written on no more than two pages.
Wrap up
Remember that the resume includes the following information: a heading with all necessary contact information,
a section that lists your education and training, and a section with your past work experience. It may also include
other sections containing objectives and achievements such as your computer and language skills, rewards, or
workshops. Also be sure to include a cover letter.
