capacity to use artificial technology to plagiarise, coupled with prolonged learning from home
during Covid lockdowns, highlighted the need for a “more comprehensive” interrogation of
the “rise and rise” of edtech in the classroom.
Australia’s leading universities said they had revised how they would run assessments this
year due to the emerging technology, including by returning to pen-and-paper exams.
“Teachers must be at the heart of this discussion,” he said. “Edtech and ultimately what is
taught in schools, how it is taught and how our schools are organised cannot be determined
by large global corporations driven by the profit motive.”

pieces. ChatGPT gained popularity around the end of 2022. ChatGPT should be regulated
by the government especially for schools. ChatGPT can be used to finish tasks at school.
Furthermore, using ChatGPT can reduce creativity. Moreover ChatGPT doesn’t provide
sources of information. Some may argue that ChatGPT will help students understand the
language however students will tend to rely on the website instead of using it for its benefits.
ChatGPT should be regulated by the government especially for schools.

Students have been using ChatGPT to finish tasks at school. ChatGPT can be used to write
essays, or even give answers to certain questions and topics. This can be detrimental to the
education of students. ChatGPT can do all the homework of a student in a matter of minutes.
ChatGPT is very popular as in the first two months of its launch it amassed a hundred million
users. Surveys have been conducted and about 40% of students in university have used A.I
like ChatGPT to write essays or to help themselves in assignments.Likewise, using websites

be unable to fully assess a student's understanding and knowledge of a given topic. Leading

Students that use ChatGPT will have less creativity. ChatGPT generates pre written
responses which may limit a students’ ability to be creative. ChatGPT can write essays that
seem like they are written by a human being. Even if the wording for an essay is extremely
high-level, the student can use other websites to paraphrase the text and make it seem more
humane. This is a teacher’s nightmare as they are the ones that have to mark and correct
essays. So far ChatGPT can be undetectable when writing its pieces. With this fact students
can be encouraged to use it as it is undetectable. Similarly this means that ChatGPT allows
students to be lazy. As the A.I is able to write an essay to a high standard in a couple
seconds. Therefore lacking creativity in the students. ChatGPT can complete a student's
work which inturn makes students become lazy and they will not truly understand the
material. Ultimately ChatGPT promotes laziness in its users as it is undetectable in students.
