There is/ there are!

Explanatinon/ Explicación:
In English we use these phrases to talk about things we see, and things that exist. / En ingles
usamos estas frases para hablar de cosas que vemos y cosas que existen.

Singular Plural

We use There is for We use There are


singular/ usamos for plural/ usamos
“hay” para singular. “hay” para plural.

Example/ Ejemplo:
1. There is a butterfly flying around. / Hay una mariposa volando alrededor.
2. There are many types of animals. / Hay muchos tipos de animales.
3. There are four flowers of different colors. / Hay cuatro flores de diferentes colores.

In past and in present/ En pasado y en presente:

Present Past
There is There was

There are There were

- Structure: Present There + is + object, Past There + was + object

In positive and negative / en positivo y en negativo.

Positive/ positivo Negative/ negativo

There are There are not

- Structure: Positive There + is + object, Negative There + is + not + object.

AVTIVITY WITH THE STORY / ACTIVIDAD CON LA HISTORIA:

a. Underline there was/ there were in the story./ Subraya había (Plural/ singular) en la
historia.

THIRSTY CROW

English:
There was a crow which was very thirsty, he searched for water everywhere, at last he saw
a pot of water near a well. He looked inside the pot, there was very little water inside the
pot. The crow saw that there were some rocks nearby, he thought of a plan. He picked the
stones, put them in the pot one by one into the pot. The water level in the pot came up.
The crow drank the water and flew away happily

Spanish:
Había un cuervo que tenía mucha sed, buscó agua por todas partes, por fin encontró una
jarra con agua cerca de un pozo. Miró dentro de la jarra, había muy poca agua dentro
de ella. El cuervo vio que había algunas rocas cerca, pensó en un plan. Cogió las piedras,
las puso en la olla una por una en la jarra. Subió el nivel del agua en la olla. El cuervo bebió
el agua y se fue volando feliz.

b. Do a drawing representing the story you just read/ has un dibujo que represente la
historia que acabas de leer.
