Surgical Package
A surgical package is an all-inclusive set of medical procedures, care, and resources for
patients undertaking surgical intercessions. A successful surgical package's various elements are
pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative (Chen et al., 2018. Surgeons, qualified health
care personnel, or physicians perform surgical package services. Surgical packages can involve
either minor or major procedures. Surgical packages can be split when post-operative or pre-
operative services are offered by physician or other personnel rather than the surgeon. The
specifics and quality of the surgery package depend on the form of surgery and the healthcare
facility. A single payment accompanies the complete surgery services based on the three stages of
During the pre-operative care, the patient's physical examination, medical history, and
other relevant tests are evaluated to ensure fittingness for surgery. The evaluation helps the
patient know what to avoid in preparation for the surgery; for example, current medication or
some restricted foods. The reimbursement for the pre-operative service fluctuates depending on
the services offered, for instance, diagnostic tests such as x-rays and blood tests. According to
Metzger et al. (2022), counseling personnel enlightens about the rewards of the surgery, likely
results, and probable dangers; these require payment independently depending on the extent of
the counseling. Where medications are necessary before the surgery, additional cost is incurred.
The intraoperative phase that involves the actual surgery is carried out by the surgeon.
The reimbursement is high compared to other stages since it involves the cost of ensuring an
absolutely germ-free environment for the surgery. Booking for the operating room and surgical

tools, attract more cost. To seal it all, the professional requires a fee that largely depends on the
experience, the extent of time spent, and the existing legacy of the professional. Post-operation
ends the surgery package procedure, where the operated patient receives after-surgery treatment.
Post-operative services may include pain management and wound dressing, depending on the
type of surgery performed (de la Plaza Llamas et al., 2018). Reimbursement here typically
involves medical compensations by the insurance company to the patient and regular follow-ups
for consultations.
