b. Raise awareness and educate the public about migrant smuggling by:
i. Conducting educational programs, campaigns, workshops and sharing
sessions in developing countries where citizens are highly vulnerable
to migrant smuggling about:
1. The threats and consequences of migrant smuggling(strike)
Delegate of US have stated in day 1 that migrants who have
intention of fleeing their homes have to ensure their money will
not go to waste by acknowledging the risks and accepting it.
Therefore, this solution will go against one crucial member in
your bloc
Strengthen capacity of border management agencies and specialist anti-smuggling units to more
effectively combat the crime of migrant smuggling through technical assistance, such as the
introduction or amendment of standard operating procedures, training on intelligence cycles,
performing risk analyses, investigative skills, debriefing and interviewing, and providing guidance on
tackling document fraud, illicit financial flows, money laundering and corruption;
i.
ii. Remain neutral or loosen borders based on each country’s stances and
different goals to create opportunities for immigrants (if granted)
iii. NGOs to check in and provide supports for the immigrants who are
still living in asylums/centers in border
iv. More support from the government towards their citizens (to-be
immigrants) on legal migration ways
Expressing deep concern that the number of people who are displaced owing to
violence, persecution, economic instability, political conflict and environmental
degradation has reached the highest level in recent years,
Noting with regret that, despite the tremendous effort countries and Member States
have made to combat migrant smuggling services, transnational criminal
organizations continue to grow,
Noting with grave concern the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
pandemic on immigrants and other persons of concern, as well as their host
countries,
Expressing its appreciation for the Member States for their dedicated manner in
addressing the smuggling of immigrants,
Recalling the UN Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and
Air, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational
Organized Crime adopted in November 2000,
