General Description
Heating System
Effectivity : ALL
A. Introduction
The heating system mixes engine bleed air with air from inside of the helicopter to
supply warm air. The warm air goes through the ducts to the air outlets (12, Figure 1)
on the sides of the cabin.
It is then routed to the demisting ramps (20) for cockpit demisting.
C. Mixer/Shut-off Unit
The mixer/shut-off unit (8) is installed on the LH side behind the engines and is
protected by insulation blankets.
D. Inlet Duct
The inlet duct (6) is installed aft of the engines on the input side of the mixer/shut-off
unit (8). It supplies air from the hold compartment to the mixer/shut-off unit (8) and
has a temperature switch (7) installed.
E. Outlet Duct
The outlet duct (9) is installed aft of the engines on the output side of the mixer/shut-
off unit (8).
It supplies warm air from the mixer/shut-off unit (8) to the air outlets (12) in the cabin
and demisting ramps (20) in the cockpit.
The outlet duct (9) also has a temperature switch (11) and a temperature sensor (10)
installed.
F. Air Outlets
There are four air outlets (12) two on each side of the cabin. The air outlets (12)
have control louvers to reduce/increase the flow of air into the cabin. There are two
demisting ramps (20) in the cockpit, each of them has several outlets that cannot be
closed or adjusted.
H. Temperature Switches
There are two temperature switches (7, 11) connected in series. One is installed in
the inlet duct (6) and the other one is installed in the outlet duct (10). The switches
stop the bleed air supply when an over-temperature condition is detected.
K. Control Box
The control box (5) is installed behind the aft left panel. It uses the circuit inputs to
control the mixer/shut-off unit (8).
L. Relays
There are four relays. Two relays (4) are installed behind the aft left panel.
Two relays (17) are installed behind the overhead panel in the cockpit.
M. Control Potentiometer
The control potentiometer (16) is installed on the overhead panel in the cockpit. It is
used to set and adjust the heating system.
N. NORM/EMER Switch
The NORM/EMER switch (15) is installed on the overhead panel in the cockpit. It is
used to operate the heating system in an emergency.
O. Circuit Breakers
The electrical supply is through two circuit breakers HTG-V (14) and HTG-CONT (13).
They are installed on the overhead panel in the cockpit.
