PROPOSED DRAINAGE AGREEMENT- On 7/14, the UCO Executive


Board decided, nearly unanimously, to approve the proposed drainage
agreement between UCO and Kolter Homes, the company that is preparing
to develop the defunct golf course property adjacent to Century Village. At
this meeting, there was some very detailed discussion about this proposed
agreement and the upcoming development. UCO’s Attorney, Rod
Tennyson, made a presentation to the Executive Board and answered
questions from the members. This proposed agreement will be considered
and decided upon by the UCO Delegate Assembly. This meeting was

Community drainage is the most critical part of Century Village’s


infrastructure. South Canal, which runs along the southern boundary of CV
and directly connects with the defunct golf course property, is long overdue
for dredging, and preliminary work for this project has already begun.

HOUSING REHAB ASSISTANCE FOR CV RESIDENTS- Palm Beach


County’s Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) has
announced the availability of an Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation
Program for residents age 62 and older. This funding will assist income
eligible homeowners with substantial rehabilitation to correct code
violations, and eliminate housing conditions which threaten the life, health
or safety of occupants. For more information about this program, please

SOUTH LAGOON- THIS IS CV’S PRIMARY WEIR, A SMALL DAM
WHICH HOLDS IN THE WATER OF ALL CV WATERWAYS. WHEN THE
WATER LEVEL REACHES FOURTEEN FEET, WATER SPILLS OVER
THE CENTER SECTION OF THE WEIR, AND MOVES TO CANALS
OWNED BY LAKE WORTH DRAINAGE DISTRICT. THIS PICTURE WAS
TAKEN ON 7/15; WATER IS JUST BARELY SPILLING OVER. I CALL
THIS WIER “THE PLUG TO OUR BATHTUB”.
SOUTH LAGOON- THIS SECTION OF DRAINAGE CANAL CONNECTS
CV WATERWAYS WITH LWDD CANALS. LOCATION IS BETWEEN
THE FIRE STATION, CAR WASH, THE SOUTH CANAL WEIR, AND
OKEECHOBEE BOULEVARD. THIS SECTION WAS RECENTLY
DREDGED.
SOUTH LAGOON- HERE IS WHAT SOUTH LAGOON LOOKED LIKE
ONE YEAR AGO, BEFORE DREDGING. MAINTENANCE OF OUR
COMMUNITY DRAINAGE IS A CONTINUOUS, AND CRITICAL EFFORT.
FAIRWAY STREET- THIS IS OUR SECONDARY WEIR, WHICH SITS ON
THE EASTERN END OF SOUTH CANAL, AND CONNECTS WITH THE
DEFUNCT GOLF COURSE’S WATERWAYS. TWO FIFTY-FOUR INCH
CULVERT PIPES RUN UNDER FAIRWAY STREET, CONNECTING THE
CANAL TO THE GOLF COURSE. THE WEEDED-UP AREA JUST EAST
OF THE WEIR WILL BE DREDGED SHORTLY.
FAIRWAY STREET- BACK IN 2017, THE TWO CULVERT PIPES THAT
CONNECT SOUTH CANAL TO THE GOLF COURSE, UNDER FAIRWAY
STREET, WERE FOUND TO BE DETERIORATED, AND WERE
RELINED WITH PVC “SLEEVES”.
SOUTH CANAL- THIS PICTURE, TAKEN DURING A 2017 DROUGHT
NEAR BEDFORD K, SHOWS HOW MUCH THIS CANAL HAS FILLED IN
OVER THE YEARS. AND THAT WAS SIX YEARS AGO. THE BOTTOM
OF THE CANAL SHOULD BE SEVERAL FEET BELOW THE BOTTOM
OF THE CULVERT PIPE, NOT ABOVE IT. THE MORE THIS CANAL
FILLS IN, THE LESS CAPACITY IT WILL HAVE TO STORE AND MOVE
STORMWATER.
SOUTH CANAL- THIS SECTION OF CANAL IS AT ANDOVER, MOVING
WEST TO WELLINGTON. THE CANAL IS COMPLETELY FILLED IN
AND OVERGROWN. THIS IS THE SECTION MOST IN NEED OF
DREDGING AND CLEARING.
SOUTH/WEST CANAL- THIS IS WHERE SOUTH CANAL MEETS WEST
CANAL, NEAR WINDSOR A. THE SOUTH CANAL SECTION IS
COMPLETELY OVERGROWN. THE WEST CANAL IS NOT.
WINDSOR A- RAINWATER RUNS TO THE CATCH BASIN, AND
EMPTIES INTO SOUTH CANAL. WITH SOUTH CANAL MOSTLY
FILLED IN, RAINWATER WILL PILE UP HERE UNTIL THE WATER CAN
MOVE INTO THE CANAL. DREDGING WILL RESTORE THE CANAL’S
CAPACITY TO HOLD AND MOVE RAINWATER, AND KEEP THE
RESIDENCES DRY.
ANDOVER J- SMASHED UP, ABANDONED CAR AT GUEST PARKING.
ANDOVER J- THIS SMASHED UP CAR ALSO HAS NO LICENSE
PLATE, AND IS VERY LIKELY UNINSURED. NO BARCODE EITHER,
SO NO WAY TO KNOW WHO OWNS THIS JUNKER. NOT GOOD.
ANDOVER J- JUNKER CAR TOWED OFF PROPERTY ON 7/16.
WINDSOR B- CAR WITH ILLEGALLY ALTERED REGISTRATION TAG.
REPORTED TO PBC CODE ENFORCEMENT, CASE NUMBER C-2023-
07110010. THIS CAR IS VERY LIKELY UNINSURED, AND THIS
ASSOCIATION SHOULD NOT LET UNINSURED CARS BE STORED ON
ITS PROPERTY. CV IS NOT A STORAGE FACILITY FOR
UNREGISTERED CARS.
SALISBURY B- PICKUP TRUCK WITH EXPIRED REGISTRATION TAG.
REPORT SENT TO PBC CODE ENFORCEMENT.
ANDOVER G- ROTTED OUT DUMPSTER. REQUEST FOR
REPLACEMENT SENT TO WASTE PRO. PLEASE SEND BUSTED
DUMPSTER REPORTS TO UCOGARBAGE@GMAIL.COM.
