3KC ATC6x00 Transfer Control Devices

The Siemens 3KC ATC6x00 transfer control devices, when equipped with motor-driven circuit breakers
(ACB, MCCB), enable remotely-operated transfer switching equipment (RTSE) or contactors transfer
control between a main and ancillary network. The stability of the power supply is analyzed by means of
voltage taps upstream of the switchgear. User-defined limit values (voltage, frequency, phase sequence)
function as framework conditions for analyzing the quality of the power supply. If the actual value
exceeds or falls below the limit value for a defined period of time, the 3KC ATC6x00 initiates a
changeover to the alternative source.
In conjunction with power and transfer switching equipment from Siemens, the 3KC ATC6x00 transfer ATC6300
control devices can be used to implement user-defined transfer switching according to 60947-6-1.

Features of the ATC6x00 series:

• Transfer switching between 2 sources between comprising network/network,
network/generator or generator/generator
• Measurement of three-phase systems with and without neutral conductor, of two-
phase systems and of single-phase systems
• Simple parameterization via the user interface of the device or via the Siemens
software SENTRON powerconfig

Parameterization

Easy parameterization via the user interface or using software

The ATC6x00 series offers a variety of adjustable parameters, which occur during the connection of generators
(e.g. generator ramp-up time, generator stopping time and generator start test at specific times). Thanks to
parameterization via the user interface or by means of the freely available SENTRON powerconfig software, the
transfer control devices provide a high level of convenience and quick access to all device settings.

The following options exist for the parameterization of the devices:

• User interface
• Parameterization via the USB front interface accessory
• Parameterization via an integrated/optional RS485 interface (integrated on ATC6500) by means of Modbus RTU
• Parameterization via an optional Ethernet interface by means of Modbus TCP

Application: Power supply to typical emergency systems

Typical emergency power supply

• A typical emergency power supply system is composed of a
generator with an engine drive and an independent fuel source.
• In general, normal power supply is used and the generator is
left unused in a stable pre-start status.
• As soon as deviations in the primary network are identified, the
3KC ATC6300 transfer control device will give the generator a
signal to allow for the generator to start and accelerate to the
rated frequency and voltage.
• Once the secondary emergency power supply is stable, the
3KC ATC6300 transfer control device
is responsible for switching the needed loads to the secondary
network.
