Tonsils are the oval-shaped pads of the lymph tissue on the


lateral oropharynx between the palatoglossal anteriorly and
the palatopharyngeal arch posteriorly.

OVERVIEW
Bacterial Tonsillitis is an inflammation or infection of the
tonsils with white pus-filled spots in the area and no cough is
present.
Serves as our first line of defense against inhaled pathogens.
Bacterial tonsillitis in toddlers are often caused by various
types of bacteria but streptococcus pyogenes or Group A
streptococcus bacteria are the most common.

Patient C.C., a 2-year-old male, was admitted to the hospital on May
8, 2023, at 12:10 pm. Upon check-up, the mother stated that for the
past 2 days, her child refuses to eat and drink properly, has lost

appetite and difficulty in swallowing, looks unwell, sluggish, and has

a fever. Today, she stated that her child suddenly experiences

difficulty in breathing. After various examination and tests, he was


diagnosed with a bacterial tonsillitis which is caused by Group A

Streptococcus.
