FLIGHT PLAN

®Flight plan is abbreviation PLN.


®Flight plan comes under DOC-4444
®FPL – Filled Flight plan
®CPL – Current Flight Plan
®RPL – Repetitive Flight Plan
®FIC – Flight Information Center
®ADC – Air Defense Clearance
®MLU - Movement liaison Unit
®ARO – ATS Reporting Office
1) What is Flight Plan
. Before any flight we need to file the flight plan which is filled with flight time, route,
origin, Destination…..etc.
. It is mandatory for all A/C to file PLN before Departure.
2) Where we can file Flight Plan?
. FIC – Flight information center
. ADC – Air Defense Clearance
. ARO – ATS Reporting Office, we can also file here.
3) How to file flight Plan?
. The PLN can submitted to ATC TWR.
. The PLN can submitted to FIC.
. We can submit PLN Online on website of AAI.
. The PLN can be submitted on AIR by verbally with all the information to ATC.
4) How we get PLN clearance?
. First we get the FIC Number from FIC center, and then we give FIC number to MLU,
Then MLU give the ADC. When we get the ADC we can fly on time limit which is
mention on PLN.
5) When we can File PLN?
A) Minimum 60 minutes Prior to EOBT (Estimated OFF Block Time)
B) Maximum 120 hours (5-Days) prior to EOBT.

6) Validity of PLN.
. Validity of Flight PLN is 15 Minutes before of exact flight Plan Time and 45 minutes
After of Filled flight plan Time.
7) Repetitive PLN (RPL)
. This PLN only applicable for all scheduled operator
RPL CONDITIONS – The same flight at same time should be repeated for same
occasion for same interval, at least 10 times fly on same occasion.
Who can file RPL- PIC (pilot in command), authorized dispatcher from DGCA.
8) NODEL OFFICE –
. These are the officer thorough out the country to handle the PLN activities in India.
. There are 22 NODEL offices in India.

0) ITEM NO.7 – AIRCRAFT IDENTIFICATION
. Registration marking
1) ITEM NO. 8 – FLIGHT RULES
. V- VFR maximum FL- 150, Visibility 5km or more or more or Clear of clouds.
. I- IFR
. Y- First IFR then change into VFR
. Z- First VFR then change into IFR

IFR- Instrument Flight Rule

NOTES- Phrases used to switch IFR to VFR is, Cancelling my IFR Changing to VFR,
Leaving FL240 for FL150.
2) ITEM NO. 8 – TYPE OF FLIGHT
S – Scheduled
N – Non-Scheduled
G – General Flight
M – Military
X – others Flight
3) ITEM NO.9 – Number of A/C Flying on same PLN.
. If only one A/C flying then it will leave Blank.
4) ITEM NO.9 – Type of Aircraft
. Boeing – 747,777,787 etc
. Airbus – 320, 350, 380 etc
. Cessna
5) ITEM NO.9 – Wake Turbulence Category
. L – Light – Less than or equal to 7000 kg (C-152,PA-34 etc)
. M – Medium – 7001 kg to less than 136000 kg (A-320,ATR)
. H – Heavy – 136000 kg to less than 560000 kg (B-777,787, A-340)
. J – Jumbo – 560000 kg and more (A-380)
6) ITEM NO.10 – Equipment
. Standard – S – VOR, ILS, GPS, DME, NDB, ADF
. Non-Standard – No Navigation Aid
/ For transponder (A,B,C)

7) ITEM NO.13 – Departure Aerodrome


. ICAO Code use.
. If ICAO code not allotted ZZZZ used. If ZZZZ has been departure an aerodrome or
destination. Use latitude and longitude. And fill in ITEM NO. 18.
8) ITEM NO. 13 – TIME
. It should be in format of 24 hours.
. Always use UTC time.
IST- Indian Standard Time
UTC – Universal Co-ordination Time

IST = UTC+ 5:30 hrs


9) ITEM NO.15 – CRUSING SPEED
. KNOTS- NO250
. KM/H- KO250
10) ITEM NO.15 – LEVEL
. FL150,FL 380
11) ITEM NO.15 – ROUTE
. Flying routes follow by pilot which is mention in PLN.
12) ITEM NO.16 – DESTINATION AERODROME
13) ITEM NO.16 – TEET ( Total Estimated Elapsed Time)
. When ever we need to deviate from our filed PLN we need to calculate and report
TEET and ENDORANCE.
14) ITEM NO.18 – OTHER INFORMATION
. We enter latitude and longitude here.
. If there is nothing to enter under item no. 18, we insert numeric ZERO.
15) ITEM NO. 19 – ENDURANCE
. Total flight hours according to FUEL.
16) ITEM NO.19 – PERSON ON BOARD
. Total number of person including crew on board during BLOCK OFF.
. Filled TBN if passenger not confirmed how much they are currently.
