Job Set-up
□ E.1. Comply with the general safety instructions for the navigation ( AMM 34-00-00,3-1 ).
□ E.2. Put the aircraft in an open-air parking area.
□ E.3. Remove the blanks from the static ports.
□ E.4. Make sure all the circuit breakers necessary for the operation of the transponder,
VHF/AM, the intercommunications system (ICS) and radio ventilation blower fan are engaged.
□ E.5. Energize the helicopter systems ( AMM 24-00-00,2-1 ).
□ E.6. Make sure that the radio ventilation blower fan works and blast air.
□ E.7. Put on the ICS installation and connect a headset.
□ E.8. Set the “ICS.VOL” potentiometer to the “middle position” and make sure the VHF/AM
audio transmission-reception function is in operation (“COM 1/2” and “COM1” or “COM2” push
buttons of the ICS installation).
□ E.9. Put on a VHF/AM unit and make radio communication with the radar control of the local
airport. Adjust the volume.

□ F.1. Self-test:

□ a. Press the “STBY” push button (2) to switch on the transponder, which immediately
runs a self-test sequence. The “Self Test In Progress” message is displayed in the window
(6) .
NOTE
The transponder can be switched on indifferently by pressing the “STBY” (2) , “ON” (3)
or “ALT” (4) push buttons.
□ b. Check on completion of the self-test sequence that the “STBY” caption is displayed.
□ c. In the event of a fault, the “SELF TEST FAILED” caption is displayed.
□ F.2. Functional test of the mode A:
□ a. Press the “ON” push button (3) .
□ b. Enter the code provided by the radar station, via the “0” to “7” keys (10) .
To correct the code, press the “CLR” key (8) .
Entry of the code can be canceled by pressing the “CRSR” push button (7) .
NOTE
The code may be selected in “STBY”, “ON” or “ALT”.
□ c. Make sure that the identification code is displayed in the center of the window (6) .
□ d. Make sure that the “STBY” caption clears and the “ON” caption appears.
□ e. Make sure that the letter “R” is displayed, to indicate that the transponder is
responding to interrogations.
□ f. Make sure that the station is receiving the identification information.
□ F.3. Functional test of the mode C:
□ a. Press the “ALT” push button (4) .
□ b. Make sure that the “ON” caption clears and that “ALT” appears.

□ c. Make sure that the altitude indication is displayed beneath the “PRESSURE ALT”
caption.
□ F.4. Test of the “IDENT” identification system:
a. Press the “IDENT” push button (1) .
□ b. Make sure that the “IDENT” caption is displayed during 20 s.
□ c. Make sure that the station receives the identification information immediately or within
3 or 4 seconds maxi.
□ F.5. Test of the VFR code:
□ a. Press the “VFR” push button (11) .
□ b. Make sure that the “1200” or “7000” code is displayed according (to the aircraft
configuration).
□ c. Make sure that the station receives the identification information.
□ d. Press again on the “VFR” push button (11) .
□ e. Check that the previous code reappears.
□ F.6. Test of the lighting:
□ a. Position the “DAY / NIGHT1 / NIGHT2” selector on the instrument panel on “NIGHT1”
or “NIGHT2”.
□ b. Engage the “INST LTS 1” push button on the control unit.
□ c. Make sure that the cockpit lighting is correct.
□ d. Place a finger over the photo-electric cell (9) , and check that the lighting dims.
□ e. Position the “INST LTS 1” push button on the control unit to the rest position.
