CHAPTER ONE

1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Study

The development of mobile hydraulic lifting machine has been a

process ongoing for many years. These machines have become more

important in the construction and industrial sectors as they provide a

efficient way to lift and move heavy loads.

So far, mobile hydraulic lifting machine has gone through some

changes in design and performance. Over the years, the hydraulic system

has undergone several modification and improvements, leading to the

development of more sophisticated and efficient hydraulic lifting machine.

The need for mobile hydraulic lifting machine arose due to the

limitation of traditional lifting methods such as manual labor and cranes.

These methods are often time consuming and also require a lot of

manpower which can be dangerous if not executed properly.

The need for the use of lift is very paramount and it runs across labs,

workshops, factories, residential/commercial buildings to repair street

lights, fixing of bill boards, electric bulbs etc. expanded and less-efficient,

the engineers may run into one or more problems when in use.

Overall, this project aims to design and develop a mobile hydraulic

lifting machine that is safe and efficient. The continued development and

research into hydraulic system promise to deliver many advancement in

the mobile lifting machine industry.

1.2 Statement Of The Problem

A problem remains a problem until a solution is proffered. The objective

of the development of a mobile hydraulic lifting machine is to provide a

cost - effective solution for lifting heavy loads in various industries.

Despite significant advancement in hydraulic lifting machine technology,

there is still a need for machines that are more efficient, affordable, and

environmentally friendly. The goal is to create a reliable and affordable

machine that can assist in the lifting of heavy loads, improving productivity

and reducing workplace injuries.

1.3 Justification Of The Research

Here are some justification for the development of mobile hydraulic

lifting machines.

1. Increased efficiency: More efficient machines would require less

energy to operate, reducing cost and minimizing the environmental

impact of their use. This will actually lead to significant saving of

business that use hydraulic lifting machine regularly.

ii
2. Affordability: Current hydraulic lifting machine can be expensive,

making them inaccessible to smaller businesses or those with

limited resources. Developing more affordable machines could

make them more accessible and open up new opportunites for

businesses to use them.

3. Environmental impact: Industries which uses hydraulic engines may

also be able to lessen their carbon footprints due to their

effectiveness and low energy usage.

4. Safety: Hydraulic lifting machine can be dangerous if not operated

properly, leading to injuries or even fatalities. Developing safer

machine could help to reduce these risks and protect workers who

use them.

1.4 Aims And Objectives Of The Study

Aims:

i. To develop new mobile hydraulic lifting machines that are more

efficient, cost effective and safe.

ii. To minimize the environmental impact of hydraulic lifting machines.

iii. To make hydraulic lifting machines more accessible to smaller

businesses or those with limited resources.

Objectives:

i. To design and build protypes of new hydraulic lifting machines that

are Efficient and safe.

iii
ii. Design and development of a mobile hydraulic engine lifting
machine that can lift heavy loads with precision, stability and
minimal energy consumption.

1.5 Scope Of The Research

The research can focus on various aspect of the machine such as its
designs, construction, and also functionality. The followings are some of
the areas that can be explored:

1. Design: The design of the mobile hydraulic lifting machine is

critical to its performance. A detailed study of machine’s design
can help identify areas that needs improvement or modification.
The research can explore the various design options available and
determine which one is the most suitable for the intended
application.

2. Cost analysis: The research could cover a cost benefit analysis of

using mobile hydraulic lifting machine compared to conventional
lifting machines.

3. Testing and Evaluation: The research will involve testing the lifting
machine to validate its performance. The tests will include weight
lifting capacity, speed, and stability to ensure the machine
operates safely.

4. Manufacture: Building and assembling the machine while ensuring

it meets quality and safety standards.
